Laurens Van Der Post was a big man in 50s television with his programmes about the Kalahari bushmen. Along with Hans and Lotte Haas (ocean exploration), Armand and Michaela Denis (safaris)and David Attenborough he recalls an era when you could switch on the box and learn something. Ah well, back to Davina McCall.
