Sugar Sugar...
If scoffing all those Easter eggs hasn't already made you feel sick then |Monday's show might tip you over the edge. The theme is 'sugar, spice and all things nice' which should please all of you who have been asking for spices as a theme. The theme is open to interpretation as obviously we all have a different idea of what defines nice.
I don't want it to be two hours of Julie Andrews and The Osmonds so if you can come up with some on theme suggestions that are not overly sweet then all the better.
Hope you all have a lovely holiday weekend.

Oh, I'm still here!
I think I'd be more likely to jump off the Erskine Bridge than attend a Deacon Blue gig.
I was huffing because they wouldn't play 'Henry Hannah's 42nd St Parking Lot' the other night - I was just so amazed it existed.
And the cycling has prevented me from giving my full concentration to the blog.
I'm off to Arran in the morning to join Smiffy in her family and spiritual home in the village of Corrie. Luckily, I like Corrie - my other neuro-associations of Arran are much darker - my ex's family used to (still do) holiday there.
Funnily enough, the fluke of my ex, Arran and Deacon Blue coinciding on the one post has just reminded me of something I'd completely forgotten - just as our marriage was at the living death stage I was informed we had to take our teenage son to a rock concert together.
I don't know why - he was perfectly capable of going himself, but, hey ho, I guess my ex must have thought some display of family unity important or that there was some important right of passage or something to be gone through.
Anyway, it turned out to be Deacon Blue's last ever gig (until this one) at The Edinburgh Playhouse. Our Steven had no interest in Deacon Blue and was there under sufferance, I plain hated the sound of Rikki's singing voice, hated the lyrics - though they did write some good tunes. My ex had absolutely no interest in rock/pop music at all and plainly didn't know what she had signed up for when she bought the tickets. As a family outing it was a total disaster - though I liked the support band, but after 20 minutes of Rikki & Lorraine, the ex decided it was all too noisy and we'd have to leave.
So there was indeed a rare but accidental moment of family unity as we got up from our seats down the front and made an undignified exit, to strange looks from the stage and the immediate crowd, me thinking 'thank Christ that's over'
Perhaps that's why I have no fondness for 'Dignity', in particular.
There was a virtually silent drive back to Glasgow during which I realised that it wasn't just Deacon Blue's final gig. There was nothing left to say.
Chocolate Girl - Deacon Blue - it's on theme, in a strange kinda way.
I should add, to be fair, I think Rikki is an excellent interviewer and has done some fantastic work in that capacity outwith the Americana show.
regardez - youse

I wish to withdraw my request for Chocolate Girl by Deacon Blue as it breaks my own rule about requesting a track I don't like - it just suited what was on my mind at the time.
I take some comfort that others in here are also noticing that the bloggers seem to have fallen off the radar so thankfully it's not just me - I was starting to think I'd caused some offence.
Maybe we've gone from 'backbone of this show' to 'nuisance'. The impression I had on Tuesday, which was particularly poor for the blog, was that the production team hadn't had time to read it before going on air.Maybe that's what happens during holidays. So I took a couple of days off.
On the subject of which, I'm offski - boat to catch.

How can that be? How can I have had had, back in the good old days, a week of shouts while someone else is being consistently ignored? I would GLADLY give up a shout to remedy that. It can't be that the other person's request is rubbish - who has the right to define what they don't like as rubbish? And how is it fair to give so many royalties to songs which are already over-played.
