Bryan Burnett | 20:04 UK time, Friday, 23 September 2011

Thanks for all your contributions this week there were some really stand out themes and great stories. I wondered if tonight's theme was going to be a bit negative but I don't think that was the case at all. It was interesting to hear about how you thought some of the all time classics could have been improved - everything from Aretha dropping the spelling to Kelly Marie ditching her 'doo doos'.

Monday night is songs with 5 words in the title, Tuesday night is songs with 4 words in the title, Wednesday night is songs with 3 words in the title....well you don't need me to tell you how this story ends.

    #1 - Cracker!

My single request will be one that is very appropriate, given as I am back in my old town to visit my dear old da'. The weather, as ever, has been utterly predictable. My request - likewise.

Eurythmics Here Comes The Rain Again

At least the food (the prawns, salmon, crab, lamb, pinnekjøtt, fårikål!!!), is lush. But I'm gonna spare the bloggers the details. I know they're not keen on food getting in the way of music. ;o)))

  • Comment number 35.

M-D, if the food is of the variety of prawns, salmon, crab, lamb, pinnekjøtt and fårikål, I'm happy talkin food.

  • Comment number 41.

All We Make is Entertainment - The Manic Street Preachers - I can't think of a better way to start the show

I Don't Want to Know - The Swell Season, from the John Martyn tribute album, 'Johnny Boy Would Love This'

  • Comment number 42.

Robert Cray certainly made my car go faster the first time I went to see him, Paolo - I'd a very young child at home and had to get her to bed before I set off for Edinburgh's Playhouse with something ridiculous like an hour to get there from Greenock, find a parking space and find my way to the Playhouse. Anyway, I did and it was a fantastic concert, all the better for being the first gig I braved all by myself. I realised of course as soon as I got there that I wasn't by myself, I was with a few thousand other folk who liked the same kind of music.

The best gig of his I was at was when BB King was there too - that was one of those really special one-off sort of concerts. Can still see the great man just standing there, smile on his face, the music just soaring as if there weren't an instrument getting in the way of the sound. The other people I can think of who have that same effect are Eric Clapton (also in the Playhouse) and just last week on the telly, Lang Lang at the piano.

It was only at the last moment I realised ' That's The Way I Like It' was a six word title!

Huge 2nd for Stephen Bishop, I've been listening to that again recently - might request Little Italy on Thursday.

Agree with Mr Git, there are a tremendous number of fabulous tracks with six words.

I propose the answer is to run GIO six days a week. Saturday evening after the football (leaving Sunday evening for the henri hannah radio show):-))

Well, there you have it. i always thought the guys at Apple (records) certainly knew how to turn a few quid but i'm amazed to say they have been completely outdone.

Today I recieved an invitation from a famus onine retailer of music to survey their dazzling collection of cd box sets.

The Beatles remasters crunches in at a hefty £157.97 however, unbelievably by far and a away the most expensive cd box set is the complete works of The Smiths at an eye watering £221.97.

I don't think we'll be taking lectures from the likes of Morrissey on how we should live.

Mott The Hoople - All The Way From Memphis

    Thanks SG!!

  • Comment number 63.

Hmm, just had a quick listen to a Beth Hart track and remembered why I'd not been in such a hurry to listen to the new album - sorry, but don't like her voice. However, she does sing on No Love on the Streets, which is a great song on Dust Bowl, so I'll suspend judgement for now. Come to think of it, that's got 5 words...
As far as I know Joe's also got a whole load of new tracks for his own next album underway - prolific man.

    Anyway, SG - thank you!
