The last post...
Like many people I have struggled to tell my Bebo from my Bandcamp. I'm still not sure whether I need to be Linkedin or left out. I suppose what I'm trying to say is that social media and the ways we communicate with each other are constantly evolving.
I've been wondering for a few months now whether this blog is making the best use of your input into the show. I don't believe that it is anymore and with that in mind we have decided to close down this blog page
All social media moves on and develops and over the next couple of months there will be new ways to communicate via the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio Scotland website. The team feel that the blog has reached a point where the programme requirements, along with ways to communicate can be served better elsewhere.
We would still love to hear from you. We know most of you email, text or use our and sites so please continue to contact us via those options. You can email getiton@bbc.co.uk, find us on or , or during the show you can text 80295 or call 0500 92 95 00.
As always, you'll find details of the upcoming themes on our programme page on the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio Scotland website.
I know some of the regular contributors to this page already get in touch through some of these other options and I hope we can count on the rest of you to keep in touch. It's a struggle every night to fit in all the music asked for but I know I can rely on my production team to make sure that we try to represent all of our audience.

Sorry Brian, but that half-baked blurb of hokum at the top of this page sounds nothing more that a prepared propaganda statement. Can you please explain to me how communicating by e-mail or twitter is in any way more acceptable than this format? Those of us who twitter not cannot possibly obtain the same interactive enjoyment in any other way.
Could say loads more, however the more this sinks in, the angrier I'm becoming.

Suggestion to the ´óÏó´«Ã½: what about a show where the audience suggest songs, perhaps some of which are not hugely well known. Maybe the show could be constructed about a theme? Something suggested by the audience? Listeners could converse about such suggestions and the production team could pick some for the actual show?

The upshot is that we've gone from 'the backbone of the show' to simply irrelevant in 10 seconds. The corollary of this is that such background knowledge the bloggers bring to the show in the form of eclecticism will be lost - not instantly, but lost nonetheless. The show will drift into the drive time 'golden oldie' stakes and find itself competing with Real Radio etc, but it can't win that audience and will slowly lose the one it's got.
All the anecdotal evidence says the existing audience would not be interchangeable with a Real Radio audience.
I have to say however, that the team fought to keep the blog open when others were closing and for that they have my unending gratitude, but things change and you don't know what you've got till you lose it.
Although everyone would deny it, the period when we were awarding points, the shows got much more eclectic, something of value has been lost, but it was ever thus - those in charge obviously know price of everything and the value of nothing.
We'll see.

your analysis is probably dead right.
which is very sad indeed.
something is going to be forever lost in the frantic bid for immediacy....more and more people fiddling with gadgets.....soup boiling over in the kitchens....wraps unwrapping disgustingly onto the kitchen floor, stews over-stewing etc etc....wit a borach.
it's a stupid decision to close this blog and they will rue the day. mark my words.
i know of people from around the world who used this and strange but true, i also know of those who found the blog entertaining.....which is the whole point...isn't it?
cheers frae the dale
