Snow Patrol ft. Martha Wainwright - 'Set The Fire To The Third Bar'
This should not work at all. Snow Patrol are a band whose main songwriting skill seems to be taking tiny fragments of musical ideas and repeating them, puffing them up with air each time around until the whole song resembles a gerbil who has swallowed a balloon.
Martha Wainwright is a woman with a very expressive voice who has troubled the world of pop not once with any of her songs to date. So, bring the two together and you get, what, a really repetitive song which has nice vocal wobbles on it, but which is a bit too full of itself?
Well, yes. And yet it's the kind of song which creates a little bubble of sadness around itself, which you can pop your head in whenever the mood takes you. How'd they manage that?

Complain about this postFantastic song.
Complain about this postNotice the same guy wrote this as wrote the review of Man I Hate Your Band...once again I don't think it's a good review at all...why shouldn't it work?
A bit too full of itself?
"puffing them up with air each time around until the whole song resembles a gerbil who has swallowed a balloon."?
Methinks 大象传媒 need to rethink who writes their reviews...
I love this song, it's amazing. The two vocals make it so haunting.
Complain about this postI normally enjoy the reviews here, and quite agree with what the reviewers have to say. However, on this occasion I think you guys are very very wrong. This song is one of the best songs I have ever heard. The double vocals are "haunting" in a good way, as a previous poster said, and the lyrics are meaningful too, something rare for a pop song. In addition, it has a great buildup, and though the actually tune may be somewhat simplistic, it just works perfectly.
I have no idea how you can give this song 3 stars, and give something like Justice vs. Simian 5 stars. This song has all the elements of a perfect song. I really think you guys got it wrong on this one.
I'd advise everyone who reads the review to have a listen for themselves and decide, because this song is definitely worth it.
