Sharam - 'PATT (Party All The Time)'

Post categories:

Fraser McAlpine | 11:10 UK time, Sunday, 24 December 2006

Because this is the kind of record anyone could describe in about five words, three of which being 'sample', 'and', and 'loop', let's take a moment to explore some interesting facts about this song.

FACT 1: The video for this song is about the comedian Eddie Murphy - yes, the one who says he isn't Mel B's babyfather. That's because the sample it's based on comes from a song he made with funk ledge Rick James. In the video, 'Eddie' is the one in red and 'Rick' is the one with the girls' hair on.

FACT 5: It's being released on Boxing Day, in the hope of securing a high chart entry in the week between Christmas and New Year. So high, in fact, that Sharam are aiming for the New Year No.1.

FACT 2: They are not the only people releasing records on Boxing Day. Iron Maiden and Nerina Pallot have songs out too, and so do an indie band called Good Shoes.

FACT 8: Providing they are the right size and of a design that you like, SHOES are a very GOOD Christmas present. But if you have got BAD SHOES for Christmas, you may have to take them back to the shops in the week between Christmas and New Year. This would be a good opportunity to buy some new singles. And thus, a marketing opportunity is born.

FACT 6: If Good Shoes do well in the New Year's Day chart, you can probably expect to see songs out next year by bands called Ugly Jumper, Book I've Already Read, and Two DVDs The Same. This is just what the music biz is like.
