SongSpoiler 2: The Grumpire Strikes Back

Fraser McAlpine | 12:52 UK time, Friday, 15 December 2006

WARNING: EXCESS MUSICAL TRAINSPOTTERY IN PROGRESS! TO AVOID CONTAMINATION, PLEASE KEEP AWAY!

It's not every day that a musician as notoriously light-fingered with other people's tunes as Noel Gallagher accuses some else of stealing HIS ideas. But, listen to this song here. You know it pretty well already, I'd guess...

And here's one your dad knows even better.

And if you think anything about how these two songs sound next to each other, so does grumpy old Noel. He's already said this on the subject: "They should have the decency to wait until I am dead (before stealing my songs). I, at least, pay the people I steal from that courtesy."

If you've any ideas for further SongSpoilers (that's two songs which share a lot of the same musical DNA), put them in the comments box below, OK?

The guitar in 'Graffiti My Soul' by Girls Aloud sounds just like the guitar in 'Paranoid Android' by Radiohead

The intro to 'Karma Police' by Radiohead sounds a bit like the intro to 'Littlest Things' by Lily Allen

The tune of 'The Plough' by The Divine Comedy sounds similar to 'Knights of Cydonia' by Muse

'Life Got Cold' by Girls Aloud sounds just like 'Wonderwall' by Oasis

"Killamangiro" by Babyshambles is a rip off of The Jam's "Down in the Tube Station at Midnight"

The view's "wasted little DJs" starts exactly the same as the libertines' "cant stand me now"

Obviously, JET's 'Are You Gonna Be My Girl?' is a blatant copy of Iggy Pop's 'Lust For Life'

And there's quite a few songs that have ripped off Soft Cell's 'Tainted Love', i.e. Rihanna's 'SOS' and Jamelia's 'Beware Of the Dog'

Oasis' 'Morning Glory' has the same riff as R.E.M.'s 'The One I Love'

And a song you probably won't have heard of . . . 'Medication' by The Signs has the same riff as 'Bohemian Like You' by the Dandy Warhols

Y'know they've done a mash-up of Boulevard of Broken Dreams and the Oasis one?
