Sophie Ellis Bextor - 'Catch You'

Sophie Ellis BextorIt's a truism that you don't know what you've got ‘til it's gone, but is it not also true that you don't know what you've NOT got 'til it's taken a break to have a baby and then come back with an incredible comeback single?

Just as we were despondantly penning Dear John letters to Girls Aloud and Sugababes (the Aerosmith cover is the last straw) and lamenting the chasm that has opened in the absence of a heart-stopping female popstrel, in re-sashays Ms Bextor-Ellis-Ellis-Bextor.

Here are the facts: it's the first single from the upcoming album 'Trip the Light Fantastic', which madam herself has described as 'an invitation to dance' (we accept!). It's penned by Cathy Dennis (we bow!). It's the musical equivalent of lips being licked (we get goose pimples!). In short, it's a pop SYNTHSATION and you must listen to it immediately. "No point in fighting" she says, and even if you’re foolhardy enough to try, she's probably armed with stilettos, so just give in and let her have her way.

Five starsReleased: February 19th

This song is one of the best pop tracks I've heard in a long time. So catchy, well arranged, just amazing! I'm glad to have Sophie back, she's doing better than ever. And she's a British lady who actually sings like it. That's rather rare these days, for some reason Brits appear to think they have to sing in American accents (*cough* Joss Stone), so it's a breath of fresh air. I've already downloaded this single (yes, legally!) and I'd advise the rest of you to do so, we need some good music at the top of the charts again!
