Maximo Park - 'Our Velocity'

Maximo ParkAccording to the Maximo Park website, excitement surrounding the release of 'Our Velocity' has reached fever pitch. I had no idea. There was a bug going round our office and, to be honest, I've been sleeping pretty badly and finding it painful to swallow, but I thought it was something to do with the air conditioning.

Now, the problem with infecting your fan base with anticipation sweats like these, is that you're going to have to live up to the hype. Frankly, I'm already disappointed that the combover's gone. Will the single make up for it?

Actually, it really does. What's always made Maximo Park shine, is the passion that bleeds from every note - a much greater USP than any hairdresser can provide. I can't think of any other band that captures on record the electricity of a live performance as the Maximos do.

So, picture yourself jumping up and down in a crush of sweaty bodies, blinded by strobes and your heart so full of noise that it could burst, and you're where this song wants you to be. Takes a few listens at high volume to get to that place mind, but you'll be glad you bothered.

Grab some tissues and get infected - that's an order!

Four starsReleased: March 19th
