Smile, It's Radiohead!

Thom Yorke in clown makeupWe all know that Radiohead like to do things differently from other music acts. I don't need to go over the whole 'In Rainbows' download pricing malarkey again, surely? So it shouldn't come as too much of a surprise to find out that the band are experimenting once again, this time with the release of their album tracks as singles, and how to get extra value out to The Fans.

The key phrase here is 'extra value', because what the band have done is offer fans the chance to remix their song 'Nude', using various different assets from the song. You can download Thom Yorke's voice, the bass guitar, the drumming, the guitar or the various whooshy noises and strings, and then use those to create your own versions of the song.

There's also a competition to find the best version, which is a bit X Factor, really, but necessary when you consider that each chunk of the song (the band are calling them 'stems') cost you the same price as downloading the song itself. That's 79p per stem! No wonder they have to offer an incentive to get people to do it.

Having said that, some people need no incentive to get their hands on a Radiohead song and tinker with it. Like ME!

So, the idea with the ChartBlog remix is to make Radiohead sound a bit perky. Y'know, liven them up a bit.

They're good at sounding angry, doomy or sad, but rarely chipper, right?

There, all fixed. It's much better now, isn't it. I mean it's still a BIT mizzy, but then, it's Radiohead, what can you do?

Oh, you can even vote on whether you like this or not now...

Woah that Radiohead remix is genius. I agree a bit ott. But theres nothing wrong with that. Even Radiohead have pushed the boundaries.

I'd like to see the guy who remixed Mr. Brightside do this song actually. What a song that would be.

Who do you have playing on this? Gogol Bordello?

    It's nice, really...

[Actually, it's all me. I was aiming for George Formby and then suddenly found the whole thing took a far more Gogol direction. Music is hard! - Fraser]

This should be released, it's a good remix and a lot better than the original.

    That 'mexicanised' version was superb!

I would seriously consider a potential release as a single for that - I honestly believe that would go down very well and would become a massive hit!

    Well done!

Particularly to Fearne & Reggie for playing a snippet of it - I was blown away!
