IN HOT WATER FOR WHAT.

Chris Evans | 15:19 UK time, Thursday, 12 July 2007

I can't help it if...

... it seems the more important the message is that's left on my phone, the more liable I am to forget about it.

I failed to reply to such a message a couple of days ago and today got a right old ear bashing by the person who originally left it.

What about the phrase, "I wrote to you but you didn't reply."

Just because someone writes to you why do you have to reply ? I didn't ask them to write to me and ninety nine times out of ten, if not more, they're after something anyway.

If I play tennis with someone then I accept I have entered into an implied contract to hit the ball back should it come my way, however if I'm just minding my own business then I reserve the right to let the ball fly by.

Took delivery of a new-old car yesterday. It's so beautiful, I may never take it out. I know this sounds crazy and is something I thought I'd never say but it is truly wondeful. It's a 1989 model but has less than fifteen hundred miles on the clock. WheN it was made, it was the car I always wanted but couldn't afford. Then when times changed they'd stopped making them, so only semi tatty second hand ones werer available but to get my dream car, almost in total showroom condition is ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I can't tell you. It is brand new. I know it's only a lump of metal but it's a pretty good lump at that.

Someone's ringing, oh *&^% it's them again.

Being 'in the trade', I am surrounded by beautiful cars every day, and it is easy to get blase about them, but every so often we get something extra special turn up, like the day a customer rolled up in his Jaguar for a service - an XJ220. Right now, we are just finishing a service on a rather famous chef's car.....

Got a right busy couple of weeks coming up, including a quick drink at The M (CLP Hostelry Empire Establishment No. 1) with an old mate next week, culminating in an all out assault on Scafell Pike at the end of the month.

Oh, and the aforementioned OAMC Special Edition down Brighton way next Friday.

I think Voicemail is the worst invention - if people want to really get in touch they can ring again. But then in some cases you have to call and pay to hear what could be (amazingly!) the sound of someone putting the phone down and no message at all. I love technology that makes our life easier!!

Just had to get a new exhaust on my car this week - it's a good job I love my car otherwise I would have cried at the ridicuous price of it all. Sounds like your new purchase is lovely and maybe you shoudl take it for one drive, somewhere where you won't get any damage on it. Wouldn't one drive in your once dream car be worth it?!

Tinsel and DD - I think colour is important if my dream car was only available in the colour of pea green soup, then sorry it would be going
    for a respray!

Yesterday I gave our Sales Director an enquiry from a company we have the potential of doing some good business with and at the time he mumbled a comment along the lines of oh yeah probably another time waster! Today I
insist he has a chat with them after which he goes straight to our CEO and says "I've been chatting to this Company for a while now and there is really good potential"....... I had steam coming out of every orafice...not a pleasant sight!

That attitude pees me off something chronic! I won't sit back and let it pass - so I walked into the CEO's office and pointed out to the SD that
this is the same company he claimed would be a "time waster" No I wasn't talking about them he said......yeah right.... B*&^*&ks!!! Silly me, that was the only one I gave you so you must have been referring to the invisible one! I then asked why he hadn't presented them on his prospect list at the last three management meetings! The look on his face was priceless!
Arrrrggghh he made me so angry!

It really winds me up when people take credit for something they are not solely responsible for, I hate being taken for a fool, and cannot abide
    someone lying through their teeth!

Well I feel better for getting that out of my system - sorry bloggers xx

Onto the subject of not answering messages/texts... I think we fall into 2 catergories:
    1. Answerers
    2. Listeners
It's not that the listeners(2) are any less caring than the answerers(1)it's just that 1 do it automatically and 2 do it if they feel like it.

I have friends in both camps (1&2 that is) and find that if you want 2 to respond you may have to ask more than once. It's easy peasy really.

And another thing... How do you get jam off a ferret?

    Luv

Please could you go back to the Asda man and his weather watchers - they reckoned summer was going to start on July 14th, if I recall right, and it's the 13th today and I'm getting worried now that it's not going to happen!

    Thank you.

Firstly don`t contact the radio agony aunt Anna Rayburn, she`ll straight away tell you to leave your boyfreind. She says that to all the people with any problem!

Secondly, you have a house, which sounds preferable to a flat. So, your boyfreind is going to have to give up his flat. That`s a hard thing to do, he`s being asked to give up a bit of independence.

Could he move in with you or you with him without loosing out on one of the properties. Then if things didn`t work out you both still have seperate homes to go to. Going out with someone is very different to living with them 24/7. And you need to try it for a reasonable time before commiting. I guess you knew that.

4 years is a while, so I can understand your frustration with the wee rucksac thing. Anyways - Look good luck.

Can`t understand why your BF doesn`t want to marry. You`ve been together for 5 years and have a house together, so financialy you are partners married or not. Peope I know who live together and don`t tie the knot are either very unreligious, can`t afford the cost of a wedding or think it`s a bit of a dated thing to do. I don`t think the strenghth of a ralationship changes if you are married or not. But I think it`s nice for a woman to be able to officialy call herself Mrs Whoever, and also nice for the children.

You don`t say what reasons your BF gives for not wanting to marry?

Dearest Tinsel. I have to say that I was VERY intrigued by your comment...#61 ish...but now feel let down as I have read Debbie's comment, and found out that it was about cucumbers.

BUT I think the answer lies in the time they are picked. If you pick fresh, you pick at the best time to eat...the shop bought ones are picked when they aren't quite ripe and brought on slowly under specialised conditions. These being no smoking, no drinking, no bringing girls home, and I want copies of receipts for everything they've spent their money on.

That way, if a cucumber IS fresh with you, you can tell it off, and this isn't how you expect to be treated after spending all that time looking after it etc.

If the cucumber is pickled, then ensure you lock all available spirits in a secure cabinet to ensure no recurrence, and in future just dispense black currence.

Bendy, would, therefore, seem to be the way to go.

    I hope this has helped.

We're still over-run with raspberries - Mr Diva made another batch of jam last night - that's about 25 jars now! The blueberries are just turning blue, the corn on the cobs are getting taller by the day and hopefully next week the peas will be ready for shelling!

Midway thru the first early spuds. Loadsa maincrops still in the ground for winter. All this rain will result in parsnips the size of torpedoes, and even the brussell sprouts are stating to get buttons on them.

No air miles. Fresh air. Great taste ... and no lugging spuds back from the supermarket - hurrah for allotments!

CLP - what's the latest on your veggie patch - did you manage to salvage everything after your recent sheep rampage?

Changing the subject ... v.v. excited as got 2 White Stripes tickets at lunchtime for the O2 in November. Saw Jack White late last year with The Raconteurs but have always loved The Stripes - this'll be the first time I'll have seen them and I can't wait ..... even if it will mean missing the local firework display.

Martin - great to have you back in bossom of the blog. You sound really upbeat at the moment - keep the blog entries coming, my friend!

HL - got your email. will sort ASAP! Promise!!

It's turned into a nice afternoon here - think when I get home I'll put a chicken in the oven and "drag" (!!!) Mr Diva down the local for a swift pint of Speckled whilst dinner's cooking to kick start the weekend. Bliss!

Oh - did my carbon footprint thing at lunchtime - we're not too bad off, which was a nice surprise but it suggested I use public transport a bit more, which is tricky as public transport in rural suffolk is a bit hit and miss at the best of times! Oh well.
