Had a sneaky Friday morning ...

Chris Evans | 15:12 UK time, Friday, 14 August 2009

.... 18 holes this morning on the glorious track that is Sunningdale Golf Club. The stuff of dreams.

Tash and I were separated for the first time in a long time, with us ending up playing against each other - something we don't usually like to do.

We were playing with a guy they call The Colonel. Ex army, he left to join the music business and in 1979 happened to sign a little combo' by the name of U2. Strangely enough hasn't looked back ever since.

He told us the story of the night he went to see them and thought "Aye, what do we have here then ?"

He's off tonight to see them at Wembley.

Meantime back at base, Tash, defeated alas and pretty convincingly too (5 and 4 if you must know) and not to mention smarting, has picked up Junior from her Ma's and is immersing herself once again in the therapy that is motherhood.

Anniversary tomorrow, I still have no idea what she has planned - all I know is that I have to be on parade by 9 am. In the morning.

Might produce first ever Saturday Blog to let you guys in on whatever it's going to be.

Have a blast of weekend. Off now to the first meeting for next years Children In Need Drive time Dine and Disco Weekend.

Love and peace, peace and love.

Arternoon all - Wotcha newbies and a first up Amy too !!

Said on previous blog but hope you have a great anniversary Christoph. Saturday blog would be good so we know what the surprise is.

For those who want to know, I had a text from Deev at 1.30 -(just before all hell broke loose here) to say she was in Docklands supping a beer!!!

Just after that one of my clients appeared at the door - let in by the decorators - dog went ballistic for some reason and wouldn't leave him alone! Must have smelled nice or somekink! Then the police - nosey neighbour wanted one of the deccys car moved - stoopid cow - she just likes moaning - nothing better to do and nowhere near her place!!! Off to town to go to bank and the world and his wife were trying to park - very badly!!! Traffic everywhere. (I managed - gloat gloat).

Now back in office with me tea and a ciggy!!! Calm !!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend, am sooo looking forward to 3 days off work, it's been a long week!

    Rx

  • Comment number 65.

That's great news Clodagh, really happy for you and the GD!

Well, I've snook away early, as it was unbearable hot in the office, and managed to stop for supplies of wine, but have forgotten the milk - oops! Still there's enough for his coffee in the morning, so should be OK, and I need to go out in the morning to take Finlay for his haircut.

I've also managed to scare the living daylights out of myself with the house alarm - assumed Mr JG hadn't set it when it didn't beep when I opened the front door, wandered into the kitchen, upstairs, back into the kitchen, into the lounge, booted this up, stood up, and off it went!!

    Nearly had a heart attack!

    JG x

  • Comment number 66.

JG - that would have been a 'tena lady' moment for me! never mind the heart attack!

PS - is the wine for later at FNWC?

  • Comment number 67.

Hi Rosie, hope you enjoy your long weekend...

  • Comment number 68.

Thanks Bondy, hoping to check out a bit of the Edinburgh festival fringe, if the rain ever stops!

  • Comment number 69.

Crumpy - I've just opened it!

Just spoke to Mum too, and she's feeling much better, and blood tests results seem normal. I think she just over did it when she was away with my sister and the kids, and got a nasty cold too.

The only thing that'll stop me going to the Liverpool meet is if we have a free weekend to get there to see her!

    JG x

  • Comment number 70.

Has FNWC started, or is it just me?

  • Comment number 71.

oooo rosie, I haven't done the fringe for years.

  • Comment number 72.

    Hi Rosie

I think my Mum was lucky with the weather at the beginning of the week! she really enjoyed the street entertainers etc.

    JG x

  • Comment number 73.

    Evening!

Happy Anniversary Chris - Hope your surprise is a good'un!!!

T'other is putting the boy to bed so I've actually 10 mins to myself! Although it sounds like too much fun is being had, rather than putting to bed.........

SSJ - No clue without actually hearing it!!

Clodagh - glad to hear all is well with GD

Can't believe it'd Friday already....t'other will be going back to base on Sunday....BOOOOOOO! Had a luverly week, gone much to quickly, back to normal weekend routine tomorrow (me kicking the boys out of the house so I can clean!!!) and then a week at home with the boy on my own.........
    HELP!!!!

Better go do Grown Ups tea,
    ebx

  • Comment number 74.

JG - glad your mum is feeling better.

Rosie - I have only been to the Fringe once, in 1999. We had a fab time and saw a real mix of shows both free and paid for. Straight plays, the Reduced Shakespeare Company, comedians, a Judy Garland drag act, a Jacques Brell musical evening, not to mention jugglers and fire eaters!!!

If you get there, have a fab time.

    Crumpy xx

  • Comment number 75.

Ebs - saw the vid of the boy, of FB. what a sweetie!

  • Comment number 76.

I'm just hoping no-one can see me dancing around, or hear me singing badly! LOL

  • Comment number 77.

Thanks Crumpy - like all little boys he can be the devil incarnate as well, but most of the time he's like that!!

He was out with t'other yesterday in a local park, and managed to get a cupcake from a nursery group on a day out, just by looking at them......

    ebx

  • Comment number 78.

You want to take him jewelery shopping with you! Might end up with some diamonds.

    C x

  • Comment number 79.

Dancing to Valerie? Me too and singing v badly.

  • Comment number 80.

crumpy I would have been up for the Jacques Brell.... bet that was fab....

  • Comment number 81.

    James

It was done ny an actor, whose name I can't recall but yes it was unusual and really entertaining. It was one of the two shows that we chose because we would never go and see something like that on a normal night at the theatre. The other was the drag act which was wonderful. Not over the top but really classy.

  • Comment number 82.

I hadn't thought of that!!!! Might try it!

Really must go do tea, the 5th meal of the day for this cook.......t'other doesn't generally like what I put up for the boy (the healther option) so we end up eating separately!

    ebx

  • Comment number 83.

    Hi Bondy!

    ebx

  • Comment number 84.

crumpy, I recently downloaded Jacques Brell is alive and well and living in Paris. I had it on tape for years, but hadn't listened to it for ages...... great stuff....

Hi ed, had a good day?

  • Comment number 85.

I love the street performers at the fringe too! Will see if I can get to a show or two as well. It doesn't help this year that Princes St is completely dug up for the tram works, so if you're walking around you're fenced in on one side of the street. Then you have to dodge all the tourists who stop in the middle of the street to take photos of the castle! The tattoo is also in full swing, I can usually hear it from my flat if I have my bedroom window open...

    Rx

  • Comment number 86.

ahhhh the tattoo, fun times....... used to like to go the the royal tournament in london as well........

  • Comment number 87.

Yep, Mum went to the Tattoo as well, really enjoyed it!

Sorry, it was probably her in your way LOL

We were always dispatched on a school trip to either Madam Toussards (sp) or the Royal Tournament - I always got the RT cos it was cheaper!!

So after the third time, decided to leave and go out for a smoke, like you do, and got away with it, joined up after saying I'd been in the loo all the time!

    JG x

  • Comment number 89.

Actually, thinking about it, I've never been to MT - can't spell it and won't try again!

Poor Mr JG was desperate to see Depeche Mode, and was also conscious of my problem with heights, found all sorts of tickets all over the country, even looked at Dublin, but eventually got side view seats at the MEN - he'll still have to hold on to me when we're walking down though!

Enjoy Depeche Mode, hope you have a decent view. Not been to the MEN for ages, used to go nearly every week for the ice hockey.
