Many thanks to The Lord...

Chris Evans | 11:18 UK time, Friday, 2 September 2011

...for Sue Johnston this morning on the radio programme the ´óÏó´«Ã½ allow us to do five days a week. She came to discuss her new autobiography "Things I Couldn't Tell My Mother." Sue's a proper lady. Anyone who can stick around at the top of the entertainment business for as long as she's succeeded in doing, has to be.

I once DJ'd for her, at her son Joel's birthday party when he was nine. I was a mobile disc jockey at the time, and Sue lived around the corner. She brought in a photo of the event to show me. I was dressed in a most bizarre outfit, which I remember thinking was cool at the time. Skimpy, velour, paint splattered jogging bottoms that were about three sizes too small for me, a T shirt, trainers and a Radio 1 roadshow hat. Apparently the team have posted it up on our . I dare not look - in case they're telling the truth.

HAGWY'ALL (have a good weekend y'all)

See you on the telly tonight. The One Show is back to The One Hours Show for six weeks.

Peace and Love

    Good morning everyone,

Yes, MM is right, the evidence is there! Hearing you talk about concrete this morning, the company I work for is a sand quarry and we sell sand, aggregates and mortar, and our bosses attend the Concrete Society Lunch every year, sounds riveting doesn't it??

Sorry I missed Sue this morning, I would have liked to hear her.

It's turned out a lovely day here in Ayrshire, even though at 5.30 this morning it was grey and raining so I left Ash's rug on thinking it was going to be wet all day, oh well too late now, at least he will be clean tonight when I ride him.

Happy Anniversary Tiggs and Sezza, and happy moving Chrissie, hope it's all going well.

Sorry to hear Keith is a bit down just now, so {{{}}} to him.

    Have a good weekend everyone.

    Hello!

Really enjoyed Sue this morning, Christoff, along with the rest of the show. What a lovely lady, no airs and graces, really down to earth.

Just clocked the photo on facecloth, ha ha ha ha ha!

Happy Anniversary to those celebrating today.

Chrissie, hope the move went smoothly.

Today is one of the nicest days we've had all summer, simply gorgeous!

    Afternoon,

It truly is a glorious day, so thank goodness for 2:30 finishes on a Friday.

Chris, Great show this morning and Sue was a very good guest indeed. I agree with Pen, very down to earth and I shall certainly be purchasing her book.

Nearly time to hit the bottom slapping shop for the big buffet buy! Eek, let's hope they've got lots of bargains!

Have a lovely weekend one and all.

Only caught 10mins of Sue this morning but she sounded great... very friendly. Really like the Friday guest idea..who`s next on the vict..sorry, guest list?!

Ali - good luck with the shopping.. hope everyone is contributing!

And has anyone seen the blogger known as Chrissie..bit concerned she`s got herself locked in a box or something...

    Afternoon all!

Well just spent a most pleasant few hours with GD, we went to Carlulici0s for lunch - we went dutch! Then she went to m0lt0n brown and bought me some handcream "for all the things I do for her" - isnt it great when the youngsters start earning! And double bonus, she is about to cut the grass, so no frog traumas for me!

Ali, loved your story about your frog. Shame it didnt turn into George!

Scoobs, nice to see you, to see you nice! I think Chrissie said she'd be off line until back at work

Hello also to Pen, MM and Dan,

Looking forward to my tea already, got the fixings to make bruschetta - yuuuuum :-)

Pen, I need to sort dinner too but I have no idea what to have! Hope I'll get struck by inspiration when i open the fridge! Although it's more likely to be the half-finished tin of beans!

Debs, the boys bought their own FlurryMcs today - but that's not quite the same! ;-)

Right, if I move myself and cook something I can justify opening something chilled and white!

Congrats to Tiggs and Sezza and their respective 'others.'

I dont suppose it was the same year for you both?

    MTF.xx

  • Comment number 18.

MTF, I don't think it was the same year. How are you today? Are the grockles starting to go home now?

Mtd, my treat on Monday is going to be taking the boys to the orthodondist!!! How's that for special!! If I'm really lucky, boy1 will get his braces taken off so I'm under instructions to buy him a celebratory bag of apples!!

Maybe I'll get a drink in the evening! ;-)

    Sezza xxx

  • Comment number 19.

Sezza, if you want apples.... Come on down.

Have been through the braces thingy with number one child. Brace him (I know, bad turn of phrase!) for the fact that he might 'not' get them taken off and if he does, thens thats a bonus. I know how excited my Daughter was, then they said.. maybe another couple of weeks.

Grocks? Managed to skirt around the worst of the traffic today, as had to take 17 year old to re-enrol for second year of college course and incorporated the round into it. Thats bye bye, to another £535 for his annual bus pass. Ho hum!

One saving grace, no uniform to buy.

    MTF.xx

  • Comment number 20.

MTF, did you tell him to guard it with his life ;-)

    Pen xx

  • Comment number 21.

Long story Pen. He lost it last year. You dont get a replacement! Unless you want to pay a £100 insurance on it. How daft is that. He has a pic on it. No-one could look like that!

Luckily, it was handed in, to the local police station.

    MTF.xx

  • Comment number 22.

MTF Have you stapled it to him this year?

We are prepared that the brace removal is a maybe which is why i have said I won't buy the apples on the way there!

Poor child, he used to eat tonnes of them but can't be fussed with cutting them up!

    Pen, how was the risotto?

    Sezza xx

  • Comment number 23.

MTF, I do remember the story, that was my point ;-)

Sezza, risotto was delicious, even if I say so myself!

You didn't get taken out for your anniversary then?

    Pen xx

  • Comment number 24.

Pen, we've never made that much of a fuss about aour anniversary. This year - a card and flowers = good going

I see it more as a 3 day warning! I'm happy with a card for today but for the date i have in common with Freddie Mercury, I like a bit of fuss!

I love risotto but no one else here does so I never make it! :-(

I'm watching Will Young what I recorded the other day. He's got a lovely smile!

Chris - just had a look at your photie - and no, you shouldn't look!!!!

Not been around much this week as I've been poorly but had a glass of vino and now feel ok - how strange!!

Looked after the 1yr old and 6yr old today and had the stepdaughter for company which was lovely.

Young friend staying tomorrow night who has stepped into my working shoes and needs help with with grant applications.

I loved Sue this morning - she kept me company in the queue for that damned bridge.

Sezza - you've just reminded me that I recorded Will Young too. Must go and have a look.

As for the braces - gorgeous daughter had a lovely dentist who made her a very delicate brace. It lasted about 2 days then was thrown in a field on the way to school and was never seen again. She has a gorgeous smile (with dimples) now.

Dan - lovely to see you and so glad married life is agreeing with you.

But I've had a lovely week off so mustnt complain :-)

Right time for a coffee and looking forward to the lovely James at 10

Off to barnet fixers today followed by a free makeover back at the L****me counter (I will have to resist buying more products though...).

I've just realised that it's only 11 weeks to CIN - I've now got my train tickets booked as well as the hotel so all I need to do now is look forward to it. Does anybody know when the Tshirts go on sale? I've got my ears from last year somewhere.... MTF if you are lurking, where did you get your T'shirt personalised last year? It would be great if we could do the same this year.

    Anyway off soon.

    Hello,

no mtd ,you haven't broken the blog ,just nobody around tonight .I've just been chilling and watching some TV,had a couple of glasses of the old red .
I'm just planning my sunday ,well what I'm hoping to do ,thats if the weather is Ok.We've had another lovely day here today but they do reckon that it's going to be so good tomorrow.
If it is nice a little bit of gardening is the first thing on the list ,then prep the evening meal then off out for a couple of hours ,also got to take some flowers to the church yard and to say hello to a friend of mine.

I'm sitting here at the mo chewing and chomping away on some toffee and beginning to feel a little unwell ,but I love toffee ,so it will serve me right if I wake in the morning with a headache through the suger rush. I'll learn my lesson one day.

but most of all at the mo Im enjoying just sitting and not having to do anything ,It's just bliss...happy Saturday.

Thanks for your good wishes - am feeling slightly better today.

Have had a lovely evening with my young friend who has now given up and gone to bed in the spare room with a book. We've sorted the world out, written a few grant applications, watched The Last Waltz DVD and drooled over Robbie Robertson and Bob Dylan.

Made Delia's Baked Mushroom Risotto for dinner - yum.

    Hi all,

Sezza ,just caught the last of Micheal Ball's prog ,didn't realize that was his last for a while ,he's in the play Sweeny Todd isn't he so maybe thats why.

Boy 1 booby trap ,please tell ,is it to do with it maybe being a tad untidy???.
hope that the ironing is going well ,I've got just a little pile ,not worth getting the ironing board out for.well thats my way of looking at it lol.

but I haven't been idle Oh no!!! ,Ihave done what I set out to do ,and have been in the garden for most of the morning in the pouring rain doing a job that needed doing ,and if it hadn't been done today it would have got done at all ,so have achieved something.
just had a nice hot shower and Mr B prepared for me a lovely toasted egg and bacon sarnie ,and very nice it was too.
Have to prep the sunday meal shortly then may go out ,but ifnot the visit we were going to do can wait untill tomorrow.

Well I am finally putting my feet up after a very hectic few days. The party went well last night, there was enough food (which was my main worry), and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves - phew. Today after church we've had a bbq, which I cooked in the rain! But again everyone was happy, so I can now relax - which I am doing with a bag of Ha@@@o and a cup of coffee....good times :)

Chris, I really enjoyed listening to Sue Johnston on Friday, I have just purchased her new book on my Kindle.

Annie, Hope you are much better now.

Bids, glad you got all your jobs done.

Sezza, I will miss listening to Michael Ball on Sunday mornings too.

Ali, glad it all went well with the party and bbq, and that you had enough food for everyone.

I have had a lovely weekend with little grandson, it was so hot on Friday that we spent most of the day in the garden.

Yesterday we built a Lego garage for his cars and built a new camp for us to play in. He loves building things. LOL!

I am now relaxing after having to bath mad dog because she rolled in something disgusting in the garden this morning.

Rest now over, so I better be off to the kitchen.
