Archives for February 2012

Er ....

Chris Evans | 12:33 UK time, Wednesday, 29 February 2012

...apologies for the lack of blog yesterday. I was indisposed having a camera stuck down me throat you see. Anyway, nothing to worry about in the end. Which is why people who are worried should go and discover if they are wasting their time worrying when they could be living. Having said that it took me six months to get round to addressing my latest worry. But boy am I glad I did. Hernia ! Pah, no worries.

In other news, just been to watch the latest Aardman Animation offering 'The Pirates! - In An Adventure With Scientists'. Excellent as expected and something I'm sure we'll be watching for many Christmas Days to come. Right, what next - oh another movie - all work - honestly. This one is on my own and is called 'John Carter', it stars Willem Dafoe who is on The One Show as a guest this week.

Toodle pip and if you see my wife and son, please tell them I'll be home soon. Promise.

Peace and Love.

CarFest, CarMalade.

redbee | 20:20 UK time, Monday, 27 February 2012

CarFest, CarMalade. Whatever. Bring the family. Food and all good stuff on the left, crazy car goings on on the right. And a whoppingly exciting hill climb cutting the two in half. It's a one night stop over mini fest for all the family. Cars Food Music And Camping. Rock on. August Bank Holiday weekend. And all for Children In Need.

Love it.

Now can anyone help get our hands on 200 portaloos ???

So...

Chris Evans | 11:19 UK time, Friday, 24 February 2012

...The Great Lord Lloyd Webber and Gary Barlow gave the big announcement with regards to their Diamond Jubilee song this morning on our little show. It was very nice of them to choose us to do it. And what an intriguing pair. This is going to be a belter. How can it not ? C'est impossible.

Excellent, so with that now out of the way, let's refocus on more pressing matters, namely The Rugby. Come on Enger-land. I mean of course I love the Welsh, I'm surrounded by them but I won't mind at all if they falter at Twickenham tomorrow. We shall see.

Peace and Love and Drop Goals if Required.

Well what a beautiful day. ..

Chris Evans | 04:59 UK time, Friday, 24 February 2012

They got it right by jove. And totally too. I had to cover up in the village high street cos I was turning a little pink. I mean I'm always pink but then again you can always be pinker.

Off to the theatre tonight with 'er indoors - outdoors. And tomorrow ! On t'show lo it will be The Great Lord Lloyd Webbmeister and Sir Gary Of The Barlow. Can't wait. It's like Radio Christmas waiting to happen. Talk to you then.

Peace and Love.

Here's how they should end The Brits. ..

Chris Evans | 13:25 UK time, Wednesday, 22 February 2012

Whoever wins Best Album (universally recognised as the big moment of the night) should say what they have to in grateful thanks at receiving their award and then perform. The crowd would go crazy. The performance would be extra special because of how the artist would be feeling. And no one needs to know who's won until the envelope is opened, with the required instruments hidden but ready to go. An amazing, genuine and enthralling moment to close the show.

The Lifetime Achievement or Outstanding Contribution "deal" that happens has been closing the show every year, and should be moved to just before the Best Album award. What the heck, they could even then go on to present it after having performed just one song. Three live songs from the same artist in a row on prime time telly doesn't do anyone any favours.

But...! The rest of last night's Brits was as good as I can remember. Great cake, just need to sort out the icing in time for next year.

Have a nice day everyone.

Brits Tonight.

Chris Evans | 17:06 UK time, Tuesday, 21 February 2012

You going?

No, me neither.

But we are definitely partying at home. Pancakes, pasta, choccie and red wine. Sounds good doesn't it? I'm almost getting excited.

Adele - 6 Grammys but only nominated for 3 Brits. Oops.

Come on James Corden. Rock our world. Sorry ´óÏó´«Ã½ 1 and 2, I feel dirty, but it's The Brits and I need to watch them (and listen to Jo Whiley ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 2 from 8pm) as valuable research for the Breakfast Show tomorrow.

Treason? Not guilty. (Hangs head in shame)

Chris Evans | 10:52 UK time, Monday, 20 February 2012

...That was a busy show for a meek old Monday in Feb. Pancake day tomorrow and Roger Taylor from Queen on the show with some mahoosive Queen news. Don't miss it. Have a nice day and don't forget today is Fat Monday as Lent is upon is in less than forty eight hours again.

Peace and Love and All Things Scrummy.

How about those Country File guys?

Chris Evans | 10:39 UK time, Thursday, 16 February 2012

How good is that show ? We talked to lovely Ellie this a.m. I understand she's even more personable off the telly than she is on. Apparently every male member of the production team is smitten. Add me to the list (it's ok, I've asked my wife's permission.)

So hey, everyone. Raymond Blanc tomorrow ! Who's not partial to a bit of Raymond on a Friday morning. There'll be more voilas than at the annual Ville de Parfait, Vol au Vent & Patisserie Convention.

A demain !

Peace and Love

Am I A Man Or Am I A Muppet ?

Chris Evans | 10:59 UK time, Wednesday, 15 February 2012

It's a fantastic new song that we're falling in love with. It's also a very sobering question. And the answer ?

We all have our muppet moments. It's when your brain unplugs itself without any prior warning and leaves the rest of the world still thinking we're switched on when we are in fact very much switched off.

In other news, I'm off to a farm all day today. And I have a sneaking feeling this is going to be the first of many future visits. More information will be forthcoming as soon as I am able to reveal it.

Still can't get over Adele...

Post categories:

Chris Evans | 22:21 UK time, Tuesday, 14 February 2012

...winning six Grammys. Not only that, but the more you read about the grace with which she received them, the more you like her. And I liked her a lot to start with !

Meant to go for a workout today. Haven't so far, it's now mid afternoon and I'm staring at a pie. Or is it staring back at me ? I'm not sure. I know one thing though, my belly will be looming large later, so guess what?

I'm going to go halves. I'll take the dog for a light jog while the pie is heating up. Ah, compromise - experience teaches you to embrace it.

Peace and Love.

Hats off to The Artist...

Chris Evans | 10:32 UK time, Monday, 13 February 2012

...for all its BAFTA success last night, but put them back on so you can re-take them off for our very own Adele.

Over in The States last night, she hauled in six Grammy's!!! Now that's big big news, really something very spesh. And equalling Beyonce's record from a few years back.

In other news. I have picked up a tummy bug from somewhere/someone. Four days and counting. It's not pretty, but I am resisting all drugs and forms of damming.

As Eric Clapton once famously sang: 'Let it flow, let it flow'. 'Cos when you gotta go - you really should. That second bit is mine.

Peace and Love...and lots of re-hydration !!!

February 10th 2012

Chris Evans | 15:50 UK time, Friday, 10 February 2012

Noah Nicholas Martin Evans became a threenager today at 0831hrs.

From two to three, and then infinity and beyond.

And what do you know, Ken Bruce's little lad Charlie turned four, also today. And then shiver me timbers, if I didn't end up at The One Show, where I was informed Keeley Hawes - our guest on Friday - also has a birthday today. February 10th is obviously where it's at for birthdays at the moment.

In other news, we're doing Valentine's tomorrow (Saturday), to beat the rush.

Have a nice weekend.

See you Monday.

Oh, and yes, I agree Daniel Radcliffe is as good a guest as Breakfast Show host could wish for.

Peace And Love.

Here's what I didn't tell you...

Chris Evans | 10:08 UK time, Thursday, 9 February 2012

...Straight after the show today, it was off to Chelmsford on the back of a motorbike. Why ? Because someone obviously has a weird sense of humour. It was freezing. But also why ? To go and drive on ice - on purpose. Me and The Welsh Wonder Alex Jones. It was for a film for The One Show for tomorrow night. When I say was, at the time of writing it was still an 'is' due to me not being there yet. Hope they have bacon butties. Really, really fancy one today. And not had one for ages.

Ketchup or brown ?

Ketchup nine times out of ten for me.

So...

Chris Evans | 10:41 UK time, Wednesday, 8 February 2012

...the organisation behind the big knees up at Buck Pal is well under way I see. With (Sir - has to happen) Gary Barlow in charge. The perfect man for the job, he's already signed up a Fab Four Knights Of The Realm. Sirs Elt, Macca, Tom and Cliff. But !!! What about The Military Wives? An appearance there for these girls would be an amazing finale to an amazing year.

Please Gary !

Here's a plea...

Chris Evans | 12:48 UK time, Tuesday, 7 February 2012

...Who doesn't love a biography ? But the phenomenon of biographies of bands is relatively new to me. The Beatles ? Yes, I've been there but this new read I'm experiencing is more of a ride really. The Led Zeppelin 'Hammer Of The Gods' book is something else.

Other band/non individual biog suggestions are welcome. Thanks. Now I'm off to catalogue some more cassettes whilst listening to Led Zep lV.

Catch up with the best bits of this morning with the new daily download right here.

Happy Tuesday you lot.

Really, very well done to Her Majesty The Queen...

Chris Evans | 09:51 UK time, Monday, 6 February 2012

... On everything. She really was and is still the right gal for the job of CEO UK Inc. A steady hand and a calm voice at the helm always. Long may she continue to be the captain of our ship.

In other news, Paul McCartney rang up this morning. Did I know he was going to ? Absolutely not. Not for a second. Thank goodness I read every article about him over the weekend. I always do.

And finally Tash's slow and low all-day lamb roast is what I'm going home to later on. A tantalizing aroma of a treat to come wafting through the house from now until dinner time.

Life is sweet, let's hope the lamb is too.

Peace and Love and Mint Sauce.

Gorgeous, blue sky, bright sun - freezing bits off...

Chris Evans | 12:05 UK time, Friday, 3 February 2012

...They say it's warmer today. It's all relative but when it gets below cold, further varying degrees don't matter. Basically - wrap up is what we're saying here.

David Walliams was our guest today. I would say from a host's point of view he is a ten out of ten. I remember hearing him in the past on other people's shows and thinking how good a listen it was. Not difficult when David's there. He is clever, funny, naughty, interesting and giving. I'm a big fan.

One Show tonight with Alan Davies, John Barrowman and the fastest illusionist in the world. Off to watch The Daniel Radcliffe film now ahead of his appearance with us next Friday.

Peace and Love and be careful out there lovely people. It's much slippier than it looks.

Yes - we know it's cold...

Chris Evans | 10:01 UK time, Thursday, 2 February 2012

...But it's still nice to have it confirmed by everyone that comes indoors from outside. It's the ears that suffer most. Wrap those up if nothing else.

In other news, Ken is celebrating a birthday today. It is a seventh decade birthday and so here's me announcing the sixty bit but honking out the one ! "Don't honk out the one" he says ! And of course he's right. If it's a late sixties then honk. If it's an early sixties then don't honk - declare.

Sorry Brucemeister. You rock and always will.

By the way - he really doesn't look it.

Have a great day y'all. Two, two, one, two. 2/2/12 !!!

The team and I...

Chris Evans | 10:20 UK time, Wednesday, 1 February 2012

...(and see there is no 'I' in team - it's true) - are off out tonight to see Jersey Boys. We genuinely cannot wait. A night out with Moira is always a treat and to a musical ! Jim has fixed it for me again.

Now, here's the thing : Vassos thinks it's about the story of Bruce Springsteen. Do we tell him ? Or do we wait and see if he notices ? The latter, you say. I agree entirely.

A report will be forthcoming on the radio tomorrow.

Peace and Love
