Annan find welcome festive form

I hope you are all well and organised for the festivities that are almost upon us.

After discussing the importance of this time of year in terms of results last time, we got the best possible start last Saturday with a last gasp .

We didn't realise just how important the victory was until we saw the other results in the division.

kevinneilson438.jpgThe three points keep us in touch with the clubs just above us, as both Albion Rovers and Forfar had good wins, as did Berwick Rangers who remain just two points behind ourselves.

I've just had another glance at the league table and noticed that we are only seven points off the play-off positions - but one step at a time I think.

was the hero for us on, scoring both goals - with the winner coming in stoppage time.

The big man is fast becoming a fans favourite down at Galabank and he absolutely deserves it.

He has led by example since I dropped out of the team and that is three wins from four since he took the armband. Hang on a minute, I'm not doing myself any favours here!

I'll be honest, and Kevin might even say the same, I never expected him to play as many games as he has.

We signed him in the summer from Dalbeattie Star and although I have played against him a few times I don't think the club knew too much about him.

To be fair though he is a player with a physical presence and is very no nonsense. He has worked very hard and is a great lad to have in the dressing room.

Once he cuts out the on the edge of his own box he'll be just about there!

It's almost transfer window time again and I'm sure the chairman will be opening the purse strings if the right players become available.

The manager will be looking to strengthen in certain areas and it could be an interesting few weeks with players moving in and out of the club.

The club has already brought in Bryan Gilfillan on an initial short-term deal and he has done well in his first couple of games.

Unfortunately, Mike Jack is going to New York and misses the next two fixtures. I say unfortunately but it can't be bad spending New Year in the ...

It's disappointing for the team that Jacko is missing as he is a big player for us but I'm hoping that it might give me the chance to get back into the starting eleven.

It's a frustrating time on a personal level at the minute for me. I'm delighted the team are winning but it's no good when you're not contributing towards results and performances.

I'd be as well giving up if I was happy right now.

That's not to say I'll be banging on the managers door far from it. I'll just keep my head down and work hard in the hope that my chance comes soon.

I must apologise but I have no news to give you regarding the Club Dance from Saturday night. Let's just say that my mole let me down - he is giving absolutely nothing away!

We are having our last training session on Tuesday before Christmas so I will be doing my own investigating in the hope of unearthing at least some shenanigans.

That's me on holiday until the New Year so I'll wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Thanks to everyone for reading and leaving comments and I hope you will join me again in 2009.
