Pre-season pains and pleasures

I was away from home and was relying on my trusty laptop but unfortunately technical difficulties proved too much and I couldn't send my work in.

Real not in real world

Well, it's been a bit of an up and down week since my last column.

The world record transfer fee has been broken.

There are still three Scottish clubs in the top division without a manager. and it's only five sleeps until pre-season - happy days!

Let's start with Kaka - and .

They have just shelled out £59m and this is only the beginning, according to the transfer rumours doing the rounds.

Back to the grindstone

"In two weeks' time you will have just finished your first training session. Get some running done so that you are prepared for it."

That was the message from Harry Cairney that brought me right back down to earth after spending the weekend in a beer garden baking in the Dumfries sun.

The thought is a truly horrible one.
