Frustrating time for Annan midfielder

Well, I think that Saturday was probably the most disappointed I've been for a long, long time while I've been at Annan Athletic.

It's not very nice finding out that you're not in the squad of 16 players less than one hour before kick-off.

It's happened to other players this season and the funny thing is that I was actually expecting it.

I mentioned last week that had done himself no harm with his performance against Penrith and I thought he deserved a place on the bench at least.

When I looked at the other players in the squad, I had a feeling I might be the odd one out, but it doesn't make it any easier to take and it doesn't mean that I agree with it either.

I am still trying to take positives from the situation however.

That was the first time Gary had made it into a squad since the season kicked off, so it shows that the manager is taking training performances into consideration as well as reserve games.

Now it's up to me to continue what I have been doing in training and improve it if I can, as well as making sure I work hard and perform whenever I get the chance to play.

Every cloud has a silver lining and, by being left out of the squad, it meant that I could travel up to to stay with my girlfriend, Laura for a couple of nights.

My train was scheduled for from Berwick and I knew I would be struggling to make it after the game.

After being left out, I ordered a to take me to the station immediately after the game finished - with the manager's blessing of course. For the time being, Chris Jardine finds himself out of the picture at Annan

As always, Laura cheered me up and that, coupled with a day in the sun walking along Aberdeen beach with an ice cream, definitely took my mind off things.

The manager has already mentioned that are becoming a bit of a bogey team for us.

That's no wins in five games since we entered the Third Division and, in all honesty, we are going to have to play an awful lot better if we want that to change.

In my opinion, we haven't started the season that well in terms of performances. We can maybe be forgiven the Inverness game, but we could certainly have done much better in the other two.

We were fortunate with the two penalties awarded against but not so lucky at .

David Cox had the chance to nick us a point late in the game, but unfortunately his spot kick was saved.

The boys are extremely disappointed with the performance and result from Saturday and are all keen to make up for it.

We all worked hard on Monday night and that will continue for the rest of the week while we prepare for our double header with East Stirlingshire. I'm positive we will see a big improvement over these two games.

It's a and unfortunately I'm not even going to see it due to work commitments.

I'm not as confident as I'd like to be and , but hopefully we will get the result we need over in Norway.

Hopefully my prediction of a Scotland win comes true, Annan pick up their first points of the season on Saturday and I am back in the 16.

Jardy, I was hoping to see you on at some point in Berwick, hope to see you back on form soon, and looking happier than you were on that 17.18 train!
    Chin up.

Keep pluggig away mate, if players gave up at the first hurdle we'd have nobody to shout at :-P

    Jardy,

Good to see you back in action on Saturday and 100% comments on the Pie and Bovril site agree!

Hope to see a lot more of the same from you this season. Well done!

#1 - a 3 and a half hour journey without food or drink wasn't my best decision! You must have seen me walking back from the buffet carriage after I'd been told they didn't accept cards and I had no cash on me!

#3 - thanks for the comments and hopefully there will be a lot more to come with some points along the way!

If the manager is dropping you, then maybe you should give up the blog and do some extra-ciricular training instead. Don't you think that the other teams have an edge when they read your blog and find out exactly what goes on inside your head?
No offence twinkle toes, you're still a legend. lol

Good to see you back in the mix. From someone who lives in the south east (England) your blog brings back many fond memories having spent time in Scotland five years ago and watching Division 3 football. Hope the first team starts become the norm for the rest of the season...
