Heavy legs eagerly await the holidays

Only one game to go until the end of the season and I, for one, am definitely looking forward to my holidays.

I'm hoping it's not just my age, but I've found the last few months a right hard slog. For the last wee while, we've been playing three games every week, whether it's been in the or reserve league. The games finally caught up with me at on Saturday and I felt I really struggled with the game in a physical sense.

; one fresh-air swipe and a misplaced pass straight out the park aside, I thought I did ok! I just felt pretty exhausted and heavy legged throughout.

Well, the call finally came for yours truly to follow the manager in to his office for a word after our weekend win over Stranraer.

After I was a bit apprehensive about what to expect but thankfully it went the way I wanted and it looks like I will be spending another year with Annan Athletic.

Although nothing has been signed and finances haven't been mentioned the manager wants me to stay and it's where I want to be so that's good enough for me.

Setting targets and taking flak from fans

Although Annan don't have too much left to play for we're well in to the business end of the season.

It's still mathematically possible for us to reach that final play-off spot but we're relying on some incredible results in these last few games for it to happen.

Livingston are suffering a little blip at the moment but they will wrap up the title eventually whereas Forfar and East Stirlingshire look like finishing second and third.

I've not looked at all of the remaining fixtures but I fancy Queen's Park to hold on to the final play-off position. Berwick Rangers are right in the mix and both Albion Rovers and Stranraer have games to play but it might just prove too much for them.

I read a little piece in the supporters' club news last week and it appeared that the fans were a little disappointed after the manager said that we hadn't thought about the play-offs.

Now I'm not actually sure what Harry's words were but I can assure everyone that has been our ambition since the start of the season - I just don't believe you go shouting from the rooftops about these things.

We have had various targets that we've set ourselves throughout the season and more often than not we've fallen way short but we keep things like that in the dressing room.

I'm very weary-eyed as I write my bog this week as I'm travelling back from .

The last two results have pretty much summed up our season so far and is the main reason why we seem to be heading to a very disappointing finish in the league table.

After we followed that up with a midweek 1-0 defeat away to then bottom club Elgin City.

Annan aiming to delay Livi's title party

I wouldn't normally say this but I wasn't too disappointed that was cancelled because of a waterlogged pitch on Tuesday night.

A combination of recent poor performances and near gale-force winds meant that it wasn't a game I was particularly looking forward to.

A player usually looks to the next game and it can't come quickly enough to get a disappointment out the system, but I think the extra week's rest might just benefit us this time.
