It's getting to that time again when all us football fans will be glued to the football news up until the very last seconds of the summer . I start work at 6.30am on 1 September, but that won't stop me staying up past midnight checking out the late deals going through.

I think it's been relatively quiet this summer in terms of transfers, with the obvious exception of , who seem to have an endless pot of cash to dip into.

I can see there being some proper activity in the last few days as clubs in the begin to finalise their 25-man squads for the first half of the season. For that reason, I'm expecting a lot more loan deals than outright purchases.

It's been a right good few years since I can remember a team spirit as good as it is at Annan Athletic right now.

The carry on and banter between the lads at training is tremendous and if we continue like this it can only bode well for the rest of the season.

Everyone is involved; apart from Ian Harty because he's got his taxi to drive while the boys are sweating it out down the Everholm. Although I'm led to believe the wee man was in good form while enjoying a few celebratory beers on the journey back from Arbroath on Saturday.

It's just small, silly things we've introduced at training that has brought everyone together.

The players have to be at the club for 6.45pm and be ready to start training at 7.00pm but the carry on was such last Thursday that we were delayed by half an hour. I could see the manager setting out his training exercises and looking at his watch, but he never said anything as he was laughing at us.

It's been a long time since I've been left out of the starting 11, but that horrible feeling has never changed.

I felt very hard done-by, but I was also expecting it. I'm asked to play a certain position for the team and that was needed more than ever against a First Division side in .

It was always going to be a in that game and prove difficult to express yourself in a more attacking and creative role; to a certain extent, the pressure was off.

I would be happy enough having supporters down at Galabank every other week.

They travelled in their hundreds and more than played their part in creating a really good atmosphere during our at the weekend.

I was quite pleased when half-time arrived as it meant that I would actually be able to hear my team-mates when we were defending corners.

I'm sure the official attendance was given as 1,025 but most people I spoke to after the game agreed that it looked like a few hundred more were inside the ground.
