Grapes, gameshows and stuff

Dear Computer Friends,

It’s currently my favourite time of the week, because today is Friday which means no stupid alarm clock tomorrow morning and no stupid getting out of bed at stupid o’clock in the stupid morning. It’s been a pretty rubbish week really, that’s seen my life switch its balance from the glitter and glamour of showbusiness to the boringness of hospitals...

Last Sunday ‘the girlfriend’ had to go into hospital to have an operation on her back. This has resulted in me spending most of the week sitting around in the hospital’s ‘day room’ eating seedless grapes and watching ‘’ with a load of sick people.

She got let out on Wednesday, just in time for me to then look after my mum who was sedated on Thursday in a different medical establishment for an operation on her teeth.

It’s all been quite foreign to me, as my Media Studies course at college never included this kind of care work, so I’ve had to learn how to be caring and patient with patients as I go along.

The one thing I have learnt though is that ‘Deal or No Deal’ is actually quite exciting now that I understand the rules, and eating too many grapes can make you feel sick and give you the trots.

In other news, I’ve been working with Hoop Dogg on an exciting new online interactive computer feature. For me, this is certainly something of a web feat, and should be a mildly exciting addition to this potentially award winning content already available here at Radio 1 ONLINE.

I know that it’s bound to get your finger twitching on your mouse in virtual anticipation, but I’m afraid you’ll have to contain your excitement because I haven’t fully worked out the rules of this groundbreaking game, although I’m hoping to give birth to it live on the internet when the Chris Moyles Show returns for its autumn season in two weeks time.

Until then, look after yourselves and each other and we’ll see you all when we come back real soon.

Kind Thoughts

From

Dave.

I have just been on your messageboard thingymejig and brought up a subject about Gemma Atkinson and how hot she was. Moyles - you are a lucky fella to see her 'just out of bed' look! Anyway, all I got in return was "who is Gemma Atkinson?" Do these people live in the real world and I question whether these people actually listen to Radio 1 at all?
Long Live Moyles and his fit guests!

Right i have a lot to talk about
1: The first thing scott mills did is play a record BEFORE 7am. - i felt quite dirty
2: There is no format - i know when the music comes normally so i can get changed and stuff but there is music all over the place its confusing
3: I haven't watched Deal or No Deal for ages has anyone won yet? Also did they have it on a loop at the hospital or something?
4: Just for the record How many weeks holiday do you get ? i'm not complaining as you may need it to help your brains plan quality radio but could you organise your holidays so they don't clash with mine please?
5: Also why do they call it the chris moyles show with scott mills? they dont call his show the scott mills show with sara cox (well they might do i haven't checked) The only thing the same is the time its on - the features are all different.
6: i broke a nail playing netball
7:Please come back i really miss you lots and lots and dave you have the nicest voice in the whole world and i love you, and i might wither up and die with two weeks of scott mills - please come back
8: Have a great holiday though hope your mum and girlfriend are all better
Love you xxx

I just wanted to say how truly excellent I think you are Dave, for continuing to make us all laugh (or at least make me laugh!) while you must have been going through a really hard time with your divorce. Despite appearances to the contrary you are a true professional!

Good luck with your new relationship!

Is this new feature an animation loosely stolen from South Park but with the jokes taken out?

I've got an idea for a game show called 'Dealer or No Dealer.' Lots of opportunities for celebrity guests as their dealers try to outfox a panel of experts. But it's my idea so I get to executive produce and prevent Russell Brand from getting within ten miles of a recording.

Hi Dave,

Hope your mother and girlfriend are all doing fine after being in the hospital. I personally think jusst the act of going out of the hospital makes one feel better!

A big thank you on your great work of the tedious link. It brings back lots of great memories (bar some weird dance tunes...) I like it when you play Crash by the Primitives, Blink-182 and James' "Sit Down". James is now my soundtrack of the week and will see me through the time when you guys are off.

Take care and have a great relaxing holiday!

Yes, Deal Or No Deal...the game that only really exists in Noel Edmonds' brain. But what with the man being a seasoned television presenting genius, somehow allows us access to his brain via the cameras...

Tis a wondrous thing. Next time you watch it, imagine that The Banker actually only exists in Noel's brain too. It makes it all the more bizarre...
