If there's anything you need help with, just drop me a line and I might get back to you. It may take me a while - I'm a slow reader. As I've just said, perhaps you've got an errant boyfriend, an interfering mother in law or you just want to know more about me.

quite possible the worst comedy I've ever seen. A really poor version of 'When the Whistle Blows' from Extras.

God that takes me back to the old country... I loved the whole programme, fantastic Irish humour, very funny. I found Brendan's jokes especially going off set to grab his handbag brilliant.

I remember reading the Mummy and Granny but what was the third book?

My mother has asked me to buy her two tins of sweet chestnut puree to make a dessert called Mont Blanc, buy six rose bushes for her so she can give them away when her partner dies, buy her white two ply wool to knit a shawl with, get a russian abacus to do her maths on, a solar calculator with big numbers to do the newspaper puzzles; do you think I should buy these? Will this encourage her to request more challenging gifts? , Mammy?

Just watched first episode absolutely brilliant. Already a fan having bought all the DVD's. Keep up the good work Brendan we all need a good laugh.

Mrs Brown, my husband of 33 years has decided that at 63 he should be the one to do the decorating. Help! Two days and the first ceiling isn't finished! What am I to do?

  • Comment number 10.

According to this program's ´óÏó´«Ã½ website, this comedy show (I use the word with extreme reservation) was 5 years in development....It's a great shame that during this time the producers/script writers were not able to "develop" a sense of humour... The show should be tagged as a ´óÏó´«Ã½ Educational release or "How not to make a TV Comedy Series"....................What a senseless waste of money!!!

  • Comment number 11.

Funniest laugh out loud programme I have seen in years. Thank you.

  • Comment number 12.

Mammy, you-is-well-funny!! Gotta tell ya, we cried with laughter ... seriously!! We have not seen anything so funny for years. Just wish we had recorded the episode - we laughed so much we missed some bits. Better than the "Royals" and better than "Benidorm". Certainly cheered-up a dark, wet & windy, Monday night that's for sure. I bet the out-takes are hilarious!! Roll-on next Monday ..... can't wait!!!

  • Comment number 13.

I lost the will to live about 6 minutes into this programme. I kept waiting for the one moment I would finally laugh, but it never arrived. Complete and utter drivel.

Apparently the Mrs Brown stage shows are quite popular, so is this just an example of an act where the humour does not transfer very well to the TV screen?

Just hope the ´óÏó´«Ã½ don't bother wasting license payers money commissioning a second series.

  • Comment number 14.

    Dear Mrs, Brown,
I loved your show! You're like Irelands answer to Mrs. Doubtfie on crack.
My question is, I laughed so much during your show that my waters broke...then I realised that I'm not even pregnant. Please help, should I a. avoid comedy b. Get medical assistance or c. think 'what the hell' and invest in a strong plastic sheet for the sofa?
    Kind regards, Fanny xxx

I need to cheer up my American family when I visit in May, and want to take them recordings of this show, which they will appreciate because Mrs. Brown is really me! Love the scene with the doctor and the thermometer!

How do I go about buying recordings in a format that will work on American players????? Help!

    Mrs Brown isn't

Brendan, we were at the Live show in Derry last friday night.
    it was absolutely fantastic !!
Love your shows no matter where they are.....you actually drove past me in your van after the show, i was walking over to get the car, when you drove past me....there was a taxi trying to get into that one way street behind the millenium forum.

i have only 1 question that has been on my mind for a while......
HOW DO YOU HIDE YOUR MOUSTACHE ??

Thanks for a wonderful show either on TV or on Stage !!!

  • Comment number 18.

Now! Mrs Brown ,will you please confirm that you are closely related to Old Mother Riley and daughter Kitty Mc Shane !?
I remember them in black and white ,on the big white screen,in days of yore so long ago ....before television !
Same formula ,with colour pictures and language to match ....tut tut and you a good caring Irish Mother ....did you get dragged up under a cart in Moore St ?
"Gowan o'il bloight yer!"....if you dont want the fish don't maul it !
Very funny ....*eck is ok but less of the *u**....its funnier without it !

  • Comment number 19.

    Too goontoday, percee, and akava77,

you must be some of the people who complained about the language on the radio. is a brilliant comedy and if you dont like it, why did you bother watching it.....you have no sense of humour.

Go back to watching rubbish British comedies like Reginald Perrin (snobby name says it all about that "comedy"), from "Aunty" that have no humour in them at all! You should go listen to your radio and celebrate the Royle Family (not a wrong spelling, they are as funny as the tv show!) and the wedding of the year. Pass the sick bag.

  • Comment number 20.

    GOONTODAY, PERCEE, akava77
can the above mentioned either get a life or just stop watching it nobody is interseted in your views, if you dont like it then thats fine but as you will find out very soon the nation love it, so just stick to songs of praise ( sad'ooos),
its good old fashioned humour and its been a long time since we had some good old "slapstick", welldone to everyone cant wait till next monday, i was crying with laughter and then crying with emotion at the end, you can never please everybody but you are definately pleasing the majority !!!!!

  • Comment number 21.

I've not laughed so much in ages, it was slapstick, irreverant and totally hilarious

  • Comment number 22.

    Dear Mrs. Brown,
Recently I was working on a drawing with which I was particularly proud. The subject was a jersey cow with a mildly irked expression. My sketch was coming on nicely, when I dropped my pencil upon the carpet. I am now in a state of some angst, as I would dearly love to finish my sketch. What should I do?

P.S., this event took place three days ago and I haven't moved since. I should very much like to eat and to use the toilet, so a hasty response would be very much appreciated.

I've got no problem at all with the language that was in Mrs Brown's Boys, I ususally watch The Inbetweeners, which has far worse language. But at least that is funny! Mrs Brown is not.

The problem I had was that Mrs Brown's Boys did not make me laugh, not even a little bit, once. It was the longest 30 minutes of TV I have ever sat through. I did think of switching over to something more amusing like Newsnight on ´óÏó´«Ã½2 but have to say I was compelled to watch it until the end to see if there was some big overall joke on the audience that I was missing or simply didn't get. But there wasn't and so I won't be watching next week.

It was the kind of thing Ricky Gervais parodied in When The Whistle Blows in the second series of Extras, there are more similarities than I can think of. A dreadfully bad sitcom with cartoon opening credits, filmed in front of a studio audience where you can see the audience and camera / sound crew, over the top characters, silly make up and wigs, characters talking directly to the camera, daft voices, catchphrases and canned laughter at every single line said by every character.

The only thing difference is Extras was a really great series and I could laugh at When The Whistle Blows because it was deliberately corny and you knew it was fake. At first I also thought Mrs Brown's Boys was also a parody, but clearly it wasn't - it was just bad and unfortunately was for real.

We'll have to see what the reviewers say about Mrs Brown, but I don't think they'll be too kind.

Anyway each to their own I suppose. I'll stick to sitcoms I do find funny, like Blackadder, Fawlty Towers, Porridge, Only Fools and Horses, Peep Show, I'm Alan Partridge, One Foot in the Grave, Father Ted, Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights, The Office, Curb Your Enthusiasm and one I've just recently discovered called Outnumbered.

And for your information I am a big fan of the Royle Family. But I don't watch Songs of Praise, and I certainly won't be watching William and Kate's Wedding.

  • Comment number 25.

    Dear Mrs Brown,

As a mammy myself, I know what it is like to bring up a family. What advice would you give to your son when he is getting married about what to do in the "bedroom department"?
    I would appreciate your advice.

    MammaPie

  • Comment number 26.

It had a couple of funny moments.
I don't like how Mrs Brown hogged most of the show and as one person, TRIED to be too many characters from Father Ted.
    The humour/gags were predictable.
The show really was an anticlimax but it has potential.

  • Comment number 27.

Some of the comments here are Laugh-Out-Loud unbelievable. I can only assume the people registering to say how they DON'T find the programme funny are the same types who post comments on Celtic and Rangers websites. Not just the same types, they're probably the same people - the ones who are anti-Irish bigots (probably from my homeland) who HATE anything with an Irish accent. Bigots, bigots, bigots! Mrs Brown's Boys is the funniest comedy in decades, whatever accent/ religion/nationality the audience.

  • Comment number 28.

    27. At 11:00am on 22 Feb 2011, Kevin

That really is a ridiculous comment. You're really saying people who are saying they didn't find Mrs Brown's Boys funny are anti-Irish or anti-catholic bigots? Come off it. Father Ted (as I'm sure you know an Irish sitcom about a group of catholic priests) is one of the best sitcoms that's ever been on TV. I have them all on DVD and I still watch the repeats on More 4 every Sunday night, and still laugh even though I've seen them all more times than I can count.

I live in the North East of Scotland, I support Aberdeen FC and I really couldn't give two hoots about one side of the Old Firm or the other, or all the silly nonsense about the religious divide.

I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would even compare Mrs Brown to Father Ted in the same sentence, the only thing the same is that both series are set in Ireland. Father Ted had a great team of writers, genuinely funny characters played by fanastic comic actors. Whatever country Mrs Brown was set, given the same dreadful and childish material it used, it would never be funny. It's like comparing Terry and June to Fawlty Towers, just because both are set in England.

The reason Mrs Brown wasn't funny is that it was very basic humour that my grandparents might have laughed at in the early-mid 1970s, but would have appeared dreadfully out of date even in the 80s. If it wasn't funny back then, adding the f-word dozens of times to it now still wont's make it funny. And in last night's episode when she said the f-word the first time it wasn't funny, so how could it be funny the 20th or 30th time.

Please don't get me wrong, as you will see on previous comment above I have no objections at all to the language used in this series, there are other funnier comedies that use much worse language. It was simply didn't make me laugh, even slightly. Is it really such a crime for saying that? Some people liked it fair enough, I didn't - get over it!! I guess Mrs Brown is one if these shows people will either love or hate, with very few in between.

The only one gag I did think was clever and slightly original was when Mrs Brown sitting in the pub and walked across the set to fetch her handbag from her living room, but that was it. Even that kind of stuff has been done - much better - donkeys years ago (Acorn Antiques).

  • Comment number 29.

This must be the worst 'comedy' I have seen in years. How it ever made the ´óÏó´«Ã½ is beyond me. In quality terms, the difference between this and (say) Human Planet is chalk and cheese. The ´óÏó´«Ã½ ought to be ashamed of wasting our license fee.

  • Comment number 30.

You will note from my post that my comments were directed at the program itself NOT the people who watched it....It's frightening to see the animosity and racial accusations raised against myself and other posters on this blog.....Shameful...!!

  • Comment number 31.

    A dreadfully unfunny show.
The ´óÏó´«Ã½ should be about commissioning new and exciting shows, not 30 year out of date ones. And to suggest that people who don't like the show are ' anti-Irish bigots' is, well, kind of bigoted.

  • Comment number 32.

Brendon,I have seen you 3/4 times at the Tyne theatre in Newcastle with mark devlin and many thanks for the tickets. The ´óÏó´«Ã½ has made one of there best decision`s to have Mrs browns boys on a Monday night,it keeps me going for the rest of the week.

    "KEEP IT UP ´óÏó´«Ã½"

  • Comment number 33.

    For the record,
    I'm Catholic.
    I love the Irish.
The part of Scotland I am from is a lot more like parts of Ireland than Scotland.
Our ways and humour is very much the same.

I didn't like the show that much, but as I have already said, it has potential.
And yes, I'd compare it to Father Ted as in Mrs Brown tried to be many characters from that show and it does not work.

  • Comment number 34.

Quite extraordinary to hear how some people have reviewed what for us the one of the funniest, filthiest, comedies in recent years. Yes it was not Ricky Gervais, it was not billed as him. It was however achingly funny in an old fashioned way like an older version of the THE YOUNG ONES !!
My 99 year old mother would have laughed herself silly if it had not been on so late. We are recording future episodes for her !!
    Brilliant

  • Comment number 35.

looking forward to the next show......but can anyone else see the resemblance to Old Mother Riley(Arthur Lucan) and Kitty Mc Shane?
Its a well worn/tried formula for slapstick and comedy repartee, fresh from the old 40s and 50s days ! Still funny but so is Laurel and Hardy to me ,I am in my mid sixties ,so have seen lots of comedy in all its forms, they all have their merits and transcend all racial, cultural and religious bounds ......I apologise if people get upset at the idea that I object to bad language on TV and in the public domain, but I happen to feel that the English language is quite adequately provided with suitable slang and adjectives to make a point of humour come alive ....swaring/foul language is just a sign of laziness...scriptwriters can now access the Oxford Dictionary online !

  • Comment number 36.

Who needs Ricky Gervais,we got Mrs Brown

  • Comment number 37.

Brendan you are a comedy genius, i have never laughed so much ever!!!!! The only people you cant please are the ones with no sense of humour!Thank you ´óÏó´«Ã½ for airing this show this is what comedy is all about.

  • Comment number 38.

This has to be one of the most funniest shows i have seen in a long time i was in tears of laughter! keep up the good work i will be tuning in every week , i am most defently a fan of mrs brown

  • Comment number 39.

All those bah-humbugs should just sod off and accept this wee show for the simply refreshingly original funny show it is. For all those who are still in mourning for the loss of Two Pints, even after one episode, I think this may fill the hole. Well done.

  • Comment number 40.

My husband and I watched this programme last night and thought it was the funniest thing we had seen in years I had sore eyes with crying I laughed that much. The Irish sense of humour is unique in its self so to me this portrayed it very well. For the people who have written bad reviews on this do have the choice whether or not to watch these programmes and if it's not to their taste then they shouldn't watch but for me and I am sure alot of others who find this humour hillarious long may you keep producing them. In todays climate there certainly isn't alot to laugh about, I can't wait for next week and hope the rest of the series is as good. Well Done ´óÏó´«Ã½.

  • Comment number 41.

This was pure laugh out loud comedy, we deff need of this type of comedy. Well done ´óÏó´«Ã½

  • Comment number 42.

    Dear Mrs Brown

Can you please help me? I have recently lost 30 minutes of my life that I will never be able to get back. It occurred on Monday the 21st February 2011 at approximately 10:35pm.

I have been left scarred by truly woeful acting and dialogue so awful it caused me to set fire to commemorative tea-towels. I feared I had been transported back 30 years into the dim and distant past, the era of the unfunny, badly conceived sit-com.

I have been assured I can ensure it will never happen again by not selecting ´óÏó´«Ã½ One as my preferred viewing on forthcoming Monday nights at the same time. However true, I am worried for the many unsuspecting victims that are still out there. Those who have not been fortunate to be made aware of the excruciating pain that lies in wait.

Do you think the proletariat, the hoi polloi, the licence fee payers should rise up, taking their lead from those brave people in North Africa and the Middle East and drive out all those responsible for this heinous crime? It appears the fashion to rid the airwaves of despotic drivel heaped upon the masses.

I hope you have time to consider my request but I fully understand you may be busy procuring a dictionary to gain a proper understanding of the word Comedy.

I would say keep up the good work but your work would have to be good for me to do so.

  • Comment number 43.

Mrs brown was hilarious!!! ive seen the live show in birmingham and can't wait to see it again. Its good comedy and at the end of the day ok its not to everyones taste. As for people complaining about its a waste of tax payers tv licence and why are we pating it to watch the likes of mrs brown, its a damm site better than watching murder and rape scenes which is on all the channels some with extlicit sex scenes. I will continue to watch and support the mrs brown shows if you dont like it then its really easy DON'T WATCH IT!!!!! leave it to the ones who do.well done to brendan o'carroll and his family keep up the good work and can't wait to see mondays show x

  • Comment number 44.

Really love the show and i found it to be very funny.

Some people seem not to like it and liken it to other shows. i have to say each to their own. I am not a fan at all of the other shows mentioned.

this show i find really funny and it makes me laugh more than The Big Bang Theory which i like a lot.

Please keep Mrs brown on TV as its a great laugh

  • Comment number 45.

My partner and I watched Mrs Brown's Boy completely by accident as TV Times did not give it a good write-up. It is the funniest program that we have seen for a very long time. Family and Friends have said the same. Well done to all concerned. MORE PLEASE!!!

What a gem of a show, most ive laughed at the TV in ages,(i was starting to worry why i was paying for my TV license)- but this shows worth it!

  • Comment number 49.

I watched the first episode on my own and laughed out loud all the way through. What could look like slap-stick or cliche is completely refreshed by the dialogue and reactions from all on set.
A different concept to studio filming which is so refreshing, so 'non-rule bound' and so very Irish ...... have now watched that same episode 4 times with family and friends who needed to be introduced to some health-giving belly laughs. Everyone of them now addicted!
    WELL DONE

  • Comment number 50.

To Brendan and all the cast of Mrs Browns Boys, such a fantastic piece of comedy. Half an hour of laughing, makes me ache and unable to breathe.
What I would like to know is, will you ever bring your show to Norwich or Cromer in Norfolk. I would hope to be first in the queue for a ticket.

  • Comment number 51.

  • Comment number 52.

what a great comedy, love this kind of sense of humour, love the fact that when someone fluffs there lines they actually show it there and then, and then proceed to carry on,havent laughed so much like that in ages...brilliant comedy..would love to see it being filmed,i would be in stitches...i love mondays at 10:35..lol

  • Comment number 53.

Thank you for your reply, and for your time! We have seen many of your shows in birmingham and they r fab! we would love to see you again at the alexandra theatre in bham, when are you performing again?
Many thanks x we love you :p

  • Comment number 54.

Brendan all I have to say is well done. The show is, along with Benidorm the highlight of my week.I have a question for you if you don't mind? I have been to see a show every time you have performed at the Sunderland Empire Theatre and have noticed that you are not performing there this year. Will you be back on the road next year as I want to both bring my lass up( I am now living in Doncaster ) and also make sure I get booked early enough to grab some front seat tickets.

Keep up the good work and all the best to you an the cast.

    Gary

  • Comment number 55.

    To 42 ´óÏó´«Ã½JUNKIE
Two things. First an apology, I wrote this as entertainment, for a laugh. It was never meant to cause the pain it is obviously causing you. So for your pain I have sympathy.

However, and this is the second thing. I have little sympathy for anyone who includes what is happening in North Africa and the middle east, where so many people have died in terrible circumstances, just to make a smarmy point. You don't like the show, I get it. Now move on.
    Brendan O'Carroll

  • Comment number 56.

#Mrs Brown. I would like to ask is there a minimum age to come and see your show? My partner and I would like to come and see you whilst your in dublin however we cant get a sitter for our son and wondering is there a age restriction. Many Thanks Jenna

  • Comment number 57.

    Dear redjenna,

No there is no restriction on age in ANY theatre in Dublin. It is entirely your discretion. My Mother took me to see "Hair" when I was jst 12 years old - having said that, I didn't like it, and was more than embarrassed. Might have been different if me Mammy wasn't with me? As long as your child understands that this is NOT real life and just comedy. . . . Well, I'll leave the decision up to you. The live show is more or less a two hour version of the TV show. So if you let him/her watch that. . . It should be fine.

  • Comment number 58.

    In response to akava77
I am so sorry but the list of comedy show you say are hilarious I disagree with, especially The Extras,Inbetweeners. As for saying that the show has copied some of The Exras and When the whistle blows, well this show is a condensed version of the series that was originally tranmitted in Ireland many years ago, so I think you may find that Mr Ricky (I am a genius) Gervais may have actually pinched some ideas from then, also Outnumbered? well Ive watched it a couple of times and have yet to laugh at it, but hey that may just be me. Everybody has a different sense of humour to each other, so far all in my circle of family and friend's have found Mrs Brown funny, and as for the swearing, well none of us has found it offensive because it does not sound offensive the way they say it, and besides it is how they talk in Ireland ( I know because my brother has married an Irish lass)
If you dont like the program then dont watch, but dont tell the ´óÏó´«Ã½ not to make another series just cos you hate it, I could say the same about your favourite shows.
    Happy Easter all

I have your live (and signed vdv) and would like to ask a question?
On you vdv you state that Kathy is your wife, but in answering a question earlier you said that she is yor daughter? Please can you clarify?
PS ignore those that bad mouth your show, we all think it's 'kin hilairious, especially my 85yr old aunt who has not laughed so much since her dear departed husband got hit in the mouth with a cricket ball and the doctor said howzat?

this is the funniest show on television at the moment. Is there plans to do any more??

  • Comment number 61.

    Mrs. Brown,

This series was the best belly laugh I've had in years, and I have a big belly. Many times through each of the shows, my belly was going up and down of its own accord.

Does this mean that I can view the show as an alternative to going to the gym?

The first on is: Ive heard you have brought your show to canada, i think Toronto it was, All the Maritimers here would love to see you bring your show to Halifax Nova Scotia for what we can say would be the best sold out show in a long time!! we would love to have you :) and my second question is: How long has it taken you to perfect the Mrs Brown Character. Besides that your doing a fantastic job, and i havent laughed that hard in a long time. Thank you for all you have done :) hope to hear from you soon :)

    Cheers,

    Dear Mrs Brown,

I love your show.....But my parents love it more and I want to arrange for them to be part of the audience when you record your next series ( Although, I warn you! You may have to muffle my mother, as you can hear her laughing whilst she watches your show, from several street away).

How do I organise this, please?

PS. I have read some very nasty comments here about your show and feel sorry for this people! Who either consider themselves (wrongly) to be our moral, comedic or historical barometers!

I just wanted to say that, it's refreshing to watch something that simply makes you laugh.......Please keep up the good work!

I have just seen by accident the last half of mrs brown ep4 on bbc1 and am mortified that i missed the first half and previous 3 episodes that are no longer on i player. I had to watch it all over again. I have been depressed after a bereavement recently and this has lifted my spirits to a honk out loud, side splitting belly laughing change in attitude. It has to be the most original, yet comfortingly familiar, genuine Irish/British tradition of comic genius. true and the most absolutely hillarious thing i have seen on any channel in years.
I wish i could see them all its brilliant thank you Brendan and family and team for making my day/month wonderfull stuff cannot praise it enough. please tell me there is more to come ...

Mrs Brown everyone is entitled to an opinion however having read sme comments that slate your fabulous show after just posting a praise of my own i feel sorry for those who made unnappropriate remarks about how ubfunny it is, they need to get a life and a sense of humour. you only need to see the praise being heaped on this true gem and pray that the bbc in its wisdom keeps this running for years thank you. are there any plans to come to leeds or surrounding areas as i would love tickets?

I am an American. I never have heard of your show before today. I stumbled upon your show via a friend on Facebook who had posted the bikini wax video clip on her Facebook wall. I got to say this is good stuff. I love being turned on to entertainment and culture unlike my own and unlike what I am used to. My question/comment is: I know that television censorship is different in each country, I know that the UK has more leniency towards adult material being broadcast on television than say here in the USA. I was shocked to hear Mrs. Brown saying the "F" bomb! I have absolutely no problem with hearing it, I was just shocked. I am just wondering does the show get edited with the swears bleeped out prior to broadcast or is this language allowed to be on television shows without censorship? And is there a certain time slot for shows to be broadcasted after such as yours that has adult language? In America, there is no hardcore swearing allowed UNLESS you are on cable television. Well anyways, thank you for the laughs tonight, Mrs. Brown's Boys is definitely a hit in my house.

How do you get tickets for the audience for the third series? A really great show. I cried laughing each week and would not miss it for anything. Watched most of them more that once. Well done to Brendan and all the cast.
