What is Cycling the Americas?
Mark Beaumont, who , is back on his bike to take on one of the most awe-inspiring journeys on earth. In a spectacular adventure across the Americas, Mark will cycle across the longest mountain range on the planet - the American Cordillera which runs from the Alaskan Ranges to the Andes of South America.

Where does the journey start?
Mark starts his journey in Anchorage, Alaska where he will face his first challenge climbing the highest peak in North America, Mount McKinley.

How long will it last?
Mark begins his epic venture on 27th May 2009 in Alaska and will be on the road continuously until February 2010 when he reaches his destination at the southern tip of the Andes in Argentina. He will travel alone through fifteen countries.

Where can I find out more information?
Follow Mark's epic quest on this website, with regular blogs, maps, video and features charting his journey.
On radio, listeners to Greg James on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 1 (weekdays 13.00 - 16.00) will also be able to follow the journey, as Greg links up with Mark at various points along the way.
Meanwhile, on ´óÏó´«Ã½ One television, Breakfast will be following Mark as he pushes himself to the limit of mental and physical endurance. -
How will Mark stay in touch?
From the day he sets out in till the final miles, Mark will be in touch with the audience, who will share the difficult trials, meet the colourful people he encounters and witness the dramatic challenges he will face.
Mark will post regular short updates to the website and variety of social networking sites including Twitter, Facebook and Flickr. -
