My Davos Moment, part 3

We've asked a number of participants to describe us their "Davos Moment". Barbara Stocking is the director of Oxfam UK, one of the many non-governmental organisations that have come here to lobby and convince the rich and the powerful.

I got up early this morning to go to a debate on who shapes the global agenda, with Gordon Brown, Rupert Murdoch, and Jack Ma, the founder of China's biggest internet company.

Who did I find in the front row but Prince Andrew? This gave me a chance to explain to him why Oxfam was at Davos – that it was such a good place to get our agenda on poverty and development to business and political leaders.

Because climate change is so big this year, I explained that what I'd been trying to do was to get people to realise that climate change was already affecting the lives of poor people quite dramatically and that the action needed was urgent.

Sadly, the debate started before we could go much further!
