Struggle for socialists

Looks like the wee parties are getting squeezed out on the list.
John Swinburne of the Scottish Senior Citizens Unity Party reckons it's looking tough for him at least.
But he says "hope springs eternal".
If he loses, he's off to his caravan.
Re the others, the two Socialist parties (SSP and Solidarity) seem to be struggling.
The Greens could slip back from their present seven seats.
More to come, though.

was always going to happen, the snp have consolidated the protest vote (not enough to win in my area C'nauld : damn cragie, can't belivie they found so many labour drones) which they didn't manage last time
To be honest it's their own fault. Two Socialist parties (And one of them laughingly called "Solidarity") does more harm then good. From a very good showing last ellection it looks like they're going to be wiped off the political landscape - and it's a shame for progressive politics in Scotland.
Can someone please tell me why coatbridge cryston airdrie shotts can vote for smith and the other labour bampop its a joke.
I blame Tommy Sheridan and his supporters, the libal court case was a farce, somebody lied.
Unfortunately it would appear tommy Sheridan (like George Galloway) think they are the party and can do as they please.
Sounds like Mr Cohen is just an embittered SSP supporter.
Instead of blaming Tommy maybe he should look at the results their leaders managed to get after removing their biggest liability. Beaten by Scargill's mob and the BNP.
Wake up and get rid of your 'leaders'
Let's not be too hasty and alarmist in saying the Socialists are now wiped from the political landscape. This election was a real clash of the Titans and in 4 years time the SSP, Greens and no doubt some single issue parties will be knocking the door of the list. It's a little disheartening to hear Tommy continually go on about 'backstabbers' and no matter how embittered they are right now, socialism in Scotland, especially West Central Scotland is a real gut feeling for a lot of people. They have their first councillor and hopefully some kind of union between socialists would be a sign of well, er, um....socialism! In the world of Left politics the Sheridan brand is a potent and unifying symbol and until someone else emerges with his (it could well be a her) charisma then socialism in Scotland will continue to be synonymous with Comrade Sheridan, rightly or wrongly. Let's see how the Nats do over the next 4 years. Awe ra best.
