Welsh-speaking Tories
- 4 May 07, 12:26 AM
Ceredigion is tight... Caerphilly is tight... rumour is that Preseli Pembrokeshire is not. Might we gain another Welsh-speaking Tory before the night is out? Radio Cymru producers would be cockahoop!
So. How low will Labour go? Is Ken Skates starting to think that 27 was a bit generous? All depends on whether they've got their vote out and can regain on the roundabouts what they look like they may lose on the swings.
Does 25 count as good or bad? Remember that Rhodri Morgan said he would 'know' what a bad night was and would go. The suggestion made to me tonight was that 25 now counted as good enough.
What do you think?

It appalls me that fellow Welshmen (and women!) can even consider voting Tories after what Thatcher did to Wales. Its far too soon to consider Conservatives and please remember that Labour brought us out of the dark hole that Thatcher made!
With Labour support declining it would not surprise me if as Mr Blair leaves his job, Rhodri could do the same.
Another Labour leader making confused signals about the conditions of his departure? Whatever next! I cannot see Rhodri Morgan stepping down. I believe a lot of anti-Labour sentiment is caused by national factors, and a change of leader in Assembly would change nothing.
I actually talked about this with some friends of mine Rhys, the sad fact is that for some people under the age of 25, a lot of what the Conservative party did isn't recalled.
I still baulk at the irony of the Conservative leader commenting on how terrible the NHS is.
Hi Betsan,
Just checking in after a quick snooze, will be reading your/Vaughan's Blog as the night goes on.
Also looking forward to watching the Scottish results coming in.
Take Care

Are we saying Ron Davies has done well?
in reply to rhys lewis' comment. i think that most welsh people would agree with you that maggie thatcher was a terrible pm for wales, but i think that the welsh people need to become less patriotic in their support for labour, what have they done recently for the people of wales?? introducing top-up-fees for university students, cutting vital services provided in hospitals and replacing police officers with cheaper version pcsos
We think that Betsan looks extremely stylish tonight - and why wasn't she in choir? - you could think there was something important like an etholiad on!!!
Surely you are not suggesting that the Tories are doing well in Caerffili ... are you?
When we talk of Conservative victories in Wales how come none of you people talk about why?
We all KNOW why. Wales outside the urban areas has been devastated by 10 years of Labour nationally. But one thing has become the focus of that, and if you are in any doubt of what that is go to Banwen Miners point to point or MAchen point to point this weekend.
Every Tory that wins in Wales is because he stands on the PRO foxhunting platform. Because for the people of the countryside, that is the only issue there is. The three seats won by the Conservatives at the last election were ALL as a result of the pro hunting vote. The swings even in Newport away from Labour are largely due to the influence of Newports two foxhunts...the Curre/Llangibby and the Tredegar Farmers, at galvanising the Tory and Lib Dem (some of the Lib dems are active in the local Hunting and horse racing scenes)vote against Labour.
