Charming Vettel looking for (even more) luck

F1 Mole | 08:10 UK time, Friday, 24 April 2009

couldn't have been down to luck rather than judgement, could it?

Probably not, but the German - who notched up a first-ever victory for and the second in his third full season in the sport - is one of the more drivers on the circuit.

Sebastian Vettel's RB5 Red Bull car

always makes sure he climbs into his car from the left-hand side and leaves the same way.

The 21-year-old also races with a stash of lucky coins and if there are no pockets in the racesuit - as they weren't in - then Vettel slides them into his boots.

A sticker in the cockpit of his car - "Kate's Dirty Sister" - raised a few puzzled smiles in Shanghai until Vettel revealed that was his moniker for the officially titled RB5 car.

Since he began racing in the junior ranks, Vettel has run through the naming each of his cars. Last season's was christened Julie and his 2009 Red Bull was named Kate.

Sadly, "Kate" came to grief after .

So, Vettel decided to name the updated chassis Kate's Dirty Sister because she was faster and more aggressive.

The Mole will pass on any suggestions for a name for his 2010 car which, if all things are as they should be, will begin with the letter L.
