Sunday 22 February: In the van on time.... Yes!! Today is a big travel day down to Farnham in Surrey.

The van is always a great opportunity to read. I always have a queue of books, and at the moment I'm reading Samuel Pepys' biography, The Unequalled Self, by Claire Tomalin. It is brilliant.

My mp3 player is another trusty friend along the way.

My listening at the moment includes wonderful classical violinists ,
, and ; mandolinists extraordinaire , , ; Quebec band , 's fab album Dirt Farmer, , and .

I've just heard we are going to play at a fundraising concert at the Albert Hall on March 25 for .

and are also on the bill, which will make for a lovely evening.

The Teenage Cancer Trust does such incredible work, it is an honour to be involved.

Every ticket sold will have a direct impact on the work the TCT can do.

We call into our Oxfordshire postcodes for an hour before heading off again for Farnham. As you might have guessed by now, our driver Mick Peters is just great - in rain or shine, hail or snow (and we've had the lot) he drives so brilliantly.

It is a home run tonight as tomorrow is a rare and welcome day off, so we go straight to the gig.

The sound check is very easy, the room feels good. It is really interesting how different each room feels from the stage, and how it can affect the way I play and sing.

In many ways for me it is what makes each night so different an experience.

We have another really good night, and as always we go out to meet people after the show, I really enjoy that too.

And now two and a half hours travel to home base. What shall I listen to, Chris Thile - wow now there's something to aim for!!

How wonderful - found this by accident on my way to Chris Evans blog... Have wanted to go to Cropredy for so many years. After reading this blog and following some of the links, I see tickets go on sale on Sunday - and, darn it, I'm going!!!

    Can't wait.

Thanks for this and see you in August,
