Just back from five gigs on the trot. I am so happy with the way things are working. I'm
looking at capacity audiences of all ages and feeling that I can be more
relaxed on stage than ever before.
It's an unusual time for me because I'm 75% through working on a new record, and am
having to take a month off to do the tour.
It allows me to work out wrinkles in the new songs by trying them live, and gives me the opportunity to really listen hard to what I've done.
The players on this record have done such brilliant work: is
co-producing and playing bass, and , , ,
and have all just been exactly the right stuff.
is coming in to play pedal steel in April, and the whole thing will be
finished by the middle of the month.
I'm practising the banjo a lot at the moment, more than I have done in years, it's good for the arm muscles.

I was delighted to see and hear Rob Murch at Haddenham on Saturday. Rob plays
English dance music on nylon-strung, five-string banjo, and he is a monster!

I see Dom Flemons is a virtual friend of Buell Kazee's my space and I'm very keen on the Carolina Chocolate Drops so that looks promising.
English dance on 5 string has to be worth a listen!!
