Gardener of the year
Hi All
How good a gardener do you think you are? Put down your trowels for a moment and pick up a pen for a chance to be crowned Gardener of the year 2009! The application process couldn't be more straightforward: simply and print off the application form, fill it in, attach four pictures to reflect your gardening and return it all back to us before midnight on the 29th July.
This week we caught up with two previous winners: we went to visit the Isle of Wight garden belonging to David Rosewarne, the 2002 GOTY winner. Since winning David has moved to a new garden and on tonight's show he will be showing us around and talking about how it's developed over the last six years.
And last year's Gardener of the Decade winner, Katherine Crouch popped into Greenacre. She had a useful tip for all applicants for this year's competition. You can see what she had to say here - and find out more about the competition.
Another garden we've visited is the garden of former Tomorrow's World presenter, Judith Hann - a fabulous plot packed full of edible herbs.
Also on tonight's show Toby will be adding to the borders of his front garden and he'll be planting a confectionery of late summer pots for his 30 minute fix. Joe will be at his London allotment and will be talking us through the steps involved in making netting for brassicas, as well as constructing a pergola and getting some structural planting done with his design 'students' in Birmingham. For a full list of the structural plants featured on the show please visit our episode guide. Carol will be showing her gardening class how to keep plants at their peak all summer round and Alys will be planting some herbal tea.
That's all for now.
Good luck to all prospective GOTY candidates!
