Tonight's programme
On tonight's programme Toby will be visiting RHS Wisely to get some tips on planting exotic plants and some inspiration for Greenacre. He will also show the steps involved in planting water lilies. You can find out more about the care of water lilies in our gardening guides.
In Carol's gardening class she will be revisiting the root cuttings her class propagated several months ago. We'll see the next steps involved in helping the cuttings grow into healthy plants. Meanwhile, Joe will be giving us an update from his allotment and harvesting some of his crops. He will also be back in Birmingham with his design students, helping them make climber supports and providing tips on planting climbers. You can revisit all the stages of Joe's Design Made Easy tips featured in the show.
Lots of you have been asking about the progress of the growbag challenge tomatoes and tonight Toby and Alys will also be providing an update and comparing the progress of their plants.
It's the perfect time of year to be sowing your eastern edibles and on tonight's show Alys will be sowing pak choi, tatsoi and mizuna. When sowing oriental vegetables there aren't many pest and disease factors to worry about, but slugs and flee beetles can be an issue in the early stages of their growth. Alys suggests covering the sown seeds with netting to keep them protected.
That's all for now, enjoy your gardening weekend.
