I've had a good break, and am now raring to go again. My own garden looks pretty good despite the neglect. Full of foliage. I did have a major worry with my pond which has a leak which I already knew about and am planning to fix in the winter when I can take out the plants and fish, store in a tank and re-seal. I've been topping it up every now and then from the water butt, but when I got back the water level was the lowest it's been. I immediately topped it up and at the same time was delighted to see that the fish have spawned for the first time this year There's now loads of baby goldfish and tench in there so they're obviously as happy as my kids. During the winter makeover some will stay and some will go off to new homes.
I'm going up to the allotment tomorrow and am pretty apprehensive, I'm just praying that everything's going to be OK. We took a huge veggie box with us on holiday, which kept us going nicely. I know there's been plenty of rain whilst I've been away so I'm sure everything will be alive, but I also know the weeds will be back, which I'll need to get on top of again. I'm also off to Berryfields next week where Carol and I will get together to welcome Toby into the GW family. I've met him a few times before and we've always got on well. He's a great gardener of course, but far more importantly he's a fellow Arsenal fan!
