Woods sets the agenda in thrilling style

This blog was intended to be a relatively big cat free zone - we've spoken so much about him in recent weeks - but it's hard to ignore .

It was simply stunning as he snatched his sixth Bay Hill professional title at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and returned to winning ways just three tournaments into his comeback.

The manner of the triumph was typical Tiger, holing from just under 16ft for a winning birdie on the closing hole - a stretch of Arnie's real estate that up to that point had yielded just six birdies all day long.

And this one was completed in near darkness. "There's some kind of voodoo witchcraft going on with this guy," commented a reporting colleague.

Harrington, golf's ideal ambassador

These, as we know, are challenging times - every last pound, dollar and Euro has to be scrapped for whatever your pursuit.

Golf has not been immune to the credit crunch and is therefore not exempt from having to go that extra step, so thank goodness it has prominent among its ranks.

Here is a player who ensures he does that little bit more to exceed expectations. This applies to his golf game, with the famed thoroughness of his practice regime, the way that he deals with the business side of golf and in his dealings with the media.

Harrington is embarking on a three-week cycle of tournaments that culminates in and his bid to become only the third player to win three majors in a row.

Mickelson whets Augusta Appetite

says he can't wait for next month's and he is not alone.

The first major of the year is always eagerly awaited but it is hard to recall a greater feeling of anticipation ahead of the annual Augusta date.

- his first in a WGC event and second triumph of the season - has elevated him once again to number two in the world rankings.

Lefty is within touching distance of at the head of the standings. Although Mickelson is quick to point out that this is due to Woods' prolonged absence from the game, it still adds to the excitement of the fledgling season.

Are we, at long last, going to see their rivalry flourish in the compelling way we've hoped for over the last decade? Because while they have been the top two personalities in the game for most of that period, the occasions when they have gone head-to-head for titles down the stretch have been few and far between.
