German Grand Prix shenanigans

It's now Monday afternoon and I'm sitting on the sofa trying to carry out two difficult tasks. Firstly, trying not to get covered in six inches of dust as builders in the next room demolish the chimney breast, which is a job almost as messy as the one Ferrari carried out on the track at the weekend.

And that's my second job, trying to summarise

I've seen some remarkable scenes in the past 18 months from at the start of 2009, 12 months ago, Mark Webber's first win and

One thing we've always strived to do, alongside David Coulthard and Eddie Jordan, is to transmit the atmosphere to you guys at home. To take you from the sofa to the pitlane and get you as close to the action as we are. I've spent the last couple of days asking myself if we managed that on Sunday. What do you think?

Reflecting on a great British Grand Prix

There is no doubt about it, working on just makes your life fly by!

I'm still feeling the physical effects of spending four days stalking up and down the pits and paddock at Silverstone, and I've just received an e-mail from Anne our production Manager entitled 'German GP details'!

It feels like five minutes since we were in the garage with celebrating his title triumph in Brazil last October and, while I still remember the details of that weekend pretty clearly, we're rocketing towards the end of the following season already, with Silverstone pushing us past the 50% mark.

Our plan over the past weekend was not just to cover the race, but to do justice to the 'event'.

The British Grand Prix has become so much more than just another race on the calendar and that's why we headed off into the campsites, chatted to youngsters in the pit lane, and hosted our post-race red button Forum from the clubhouse.

is like nowhere else we visit and we wanted living rooms across the country to feel what we felt.

So I mentioned it in my last blog and gave you a picture as a bit of a teaser - and now we can reveal the Great British (and Irish) pub GP.

If our ´óÏó´«Ã½1 show got you in the mood for some F1 quiz action, here's an even fuller version for you - with a load of footage that we didn't have time to show in the main programme. If you want to see how the McLaren boys, Radio 1 and Eddie and me managed to build our own F1 cars, then it's well worth a watch. I hope you enjoy it, we all had fun doing it - and fair play to quiz-master for keeping the rowdier ones in check.

And who won the quiz? Well let's just say that at the end of the day the teams couldn't be separated by our scorer, darts legend .

Knowing how competitive we all are, that's probably for the best!

I hope you're all getting excited about the . I'm writing this short blog entry at the Mercedes GP HQ, just down the road from .

I'm waiting for Michael Schumacher, who is going to drive the eight miles to the circuit with me so I can get , find out how he sees , and ask what he can achieve in the remaining 10 races.

You will be able to see the (potentially quite quick) journey on our pre-qualifying show on Saturday, and there is plenty of other stuff to make this weekend even more special than usual.
