Pumps of the past

This week we've been celebrating those smaller petrol stations that still exist in the county.

Many thanks to Shirley from Bourton on the Water for these photos. Her dad used to have the Garage and Filling Station in Bourton back in the 40's and 50's. Notice the little wooden hut which was the pay office!

Special mention goes also to Keith and Margo who look after the Ruardean petrol station. Keith still serves the petrol and they have customers who pay their fuel bills monthly!

Any other small, community petrol stations you would like to nominate please get in touch. cummings@bbc.co.uk

In search of Sabrina

Mark Cummings | 09:16 UK time, Tuesday, 26 July 2011

Sabrina the Severn Trent mole is set to surface for the last time today (July 26th).

Her journey under the streets of Gloucester has been eventful, most recently cutting through thousands of phone lines.

On this morning's show Claire Carter went in search of the mole with a mind of its own.

I love the summer!

The Cheltenham Cricket Festival continues this week. I can't quite understand the compulsion to wobble across the college ground wearing nothing more than a dopey smile, but hey it adds a little colour to the great game. Thanks to Anna for her keen eye at the weekend...she writes

Hi,I went to my first cricket match yesterday, Gloucestershire v Nottinghamshire and had so much fun.Cricket, sunshine and a streaker! For some reason I've decided I'll definitely be going again!

If you are out and about during the summer break and can capture quintessential England do send them into me at cummings@bbc.co.uk

Have a great weekend...don't get stuck in the holiday traffic...and for those not heading off on holiday I will be ready with another cracking breakfast show on Monday.

This week we've had major traffic issues on the A417 with that lorry fire...a naked Jilly Cooper on the phone about to get into her morning bath...Sabrina the Severn Trent Mole still causing havoc under the city of Gloucester...rugby legend Andy Hazel everyday describing his typical morning routine...that only scratches the surface.

I'm off home for a lie down! What will happen next week? Keep your photos coming if you are out and about...cummings@bbc.co.uk

Can we travel light? Yes we can!

Sue Johnson from Gloucester is my hero!

A report out this week claims more and more of us are saving money by ditching the suitcase and squashing everything into hand luggage.

This can save a fortune when travelling on a budget airline and Sue came into the studio to prove it can be done. Several people phoned in claiming to be able to go away for two weeks with several children to the sunshine using this method.

Happy days...enjoy our money saving information film. Any other tips do let us know. Post a comment or email me at cummings@bbc.co.uk

Running a pub...how hard can it be?

Find out how we got on this Wednesday's Breakfast Show when we took up an offer we simply couldn't refuse.

We've been examining the state of the pub industry in Gloucestershire this week...so to illustrate the reality of making a living we ran the lunchtime service at The Royal Oak at Prestbury.

Tune in this Wednesday to see how we got on!

Chuffing good time

At the end of last week train buffs in Gloucestershire got a little steamy.

Andy Barton in Dursley caught the stream engine "Bittern" at the Frampton Mansell viaduct. Many people flocked to Stroud Station to catch a glimpse as she headed back to London.

I always love you photos of Gloucestershire life...keep them coming! You can email me at cummings@bbc.co.uk

Messing about on the river

Many thanks to Steve Cullis for these wonderful shots.

He had a fantastic sail from Lydney Yacht Club to Portishead Sailing Club and back again. As he says it just shows you how stunning the river can be.

Harvey 100 hits the jackpot

Mark Cummings | 18:02 UK time, Monday, 4 July 2011

On Saturday £20,000 pounds was raised after 100ks of blood, sweat and toil.

The Harvey 100 bike ride through the Cotswolds was a fantastic fun day for lots of us. Harvey goes to The Kings School and many pupils, teachers and support staff turned out to raise money for The Hop, Skip and Jump charity.

It was great to meet so many of you...I don't know how you felt after 62 miles but for me the theme tune to this week has definitely been "Cheek to Cheek!"

Come on Tim...I mean Andy

Will Andy Murray finally do it? We could be in for a nerve jangling weekend if he beats Rafa today.

In the past couple of weeks we have enjoyed the company of many of the county's tennis clubs. Yesterday myself and Claire Carter were thrashed 6-1, 6-3 by Joan and Roger at Painswick Tennis Club.

If you haven't picked up a racket for a while...go on catch the Wimbledon vibe and enjoy the utter joy of nailing a backhander down the line!

If you want to promote your tennis club or even challenge us to a game you can get in contact via cummings@bbc.co.uk
