Hi Murray! I'm 50% torn between Vettel being boring - yet the other 50% of me says we're witnessing one of the best drivers ever in Formula One, but with the best car. Just how good is Vettel?

  • Comment number 2.

Murray, this year saw the fantastic success of the Indian GP on a brand new circuit, which circuit no longer in use on the F1 schedule would you like to see restored and returned to the calander?

  • Comment number 3.

Murray, Teams like Renault and Red Bull have more drivers than they can accomodate at the moment, and some drivers have arguably hung on to race seats for longer than they deserve. Meanwhile there is a flood of good reserve drivers (Hulkenberg, Paffett, Chandhok) trying to get seats. What would you do to make sure the best drivers are on the grid at races? In-season testing? 3-car teams? Something else?

  • Comment number 4.

Hello Murray! My question is which of the minnow teams has impressed you the most this season and why?

  • Comment number 5.

Murray, will you have a job with the ´óÏó´«Ã½ next year?

  • Comment number 6.

    Hi Murray
Why is there always a focus on TV about Hamilton when he has been outdriven by Button most of the season? Hamilton is a 'win it or bin it' driver, Button is smooth and consistant perhaps not as exciting but points mean prizes.

PS I have a photo of your Dad at Brooklands with a Norton I now own! (1926)

  • Comment number 7.

Hi Murray, If Ron Dennis had remained the team principle for McLaren do you think Lewis's 2011 performance would have been any different? Ron has an air of authority unrivalled in the current pit lane wouldn't you agree!

  • Comment number 8.

Hi Murray. Is Adrian Newey unstoppable? Is lewis Hamilton trying to emulate his F1 hero Ayrton Senna using similar driving attitudes? Will Kimi manage to sort the problems at the Williams team?

  • Comment number 9.

How candid do you think F1 drivers should be allowed to be? A lot of interviews seem very bland but when Petrov spoke out about Renault (no more stridently than a Hunt or Lauda) his head was called for by some.

  • Comment number 10.

Hi Murray, What do you think of rumours of Kimi Raikkonen coming back..Do you think he will have an impact at Williams or has he had his day?

  • Comment number 11.

    Hi Murray,

Do you believe that the RRA is needed in Formula 1 to keep the field closer together, or that giving the teams free reign over their spending will bunch the field together?

  • Comment number 12.

Do you think the reintroduction of team orders will now make teams focus on number one drivers in order to break vettels dominance. Teams with two top drivers are taking points off each other in the wdc

  • Comment number 13.

Given a full season of the new rules, more varibles with tyres, etc. do we really need DRS? Do you feel that DRS reduces the 'quality' of a pass, to the detriment of the excitement and integrity of the racing?
I personally think the tyre variation has been the better point of interest this season, and is less artificial than DRS

  • Comment number 14.

    Hi Murray,

I do appreciate and respect your experience and and coverage on F1 over the past decades. But I must say, I was taken somewhat aback when I watched one of your reviews about the all-time great F1 drivers.

I do not understand how Alain Prost can be on there and not Senna. We all know for a fact, that Eyrton out-raced (and out-qualified) Prost. I have watch so many videos and footage about their races and its a well established fact that Senna was a better and more committed F1 driver than Prost was. Yes, I know there is the argument that Prost won 4 times, but that was stricly due to him having a car far superior to the rest of the folks at the time (not to mention that exclusivity clause of his contract with Williams at the time which barred Mansell or Senna to drive the car for some time. The contract was later relaxed to allow Mansell to drive but not Senna.

To me, that call that Senna was not amongst that top elite of drivers for you, takes away so much respect I had for your assessment of the sport.

    Sadiq

To me, that is just wrong. I do not see how Alain Prost can make that list and

  • Comment number 15.

Hi Murray, what are your views and opinons on the drag reduction system? Should it stay in F1 for next season? Does it make overtaking too easy in some circuits and cause too much trouble in practice and qualifying?

  • Comment number 16.

Hi Murray, most of the drivers complain about the bad visibility of the mirrors on their cars so why don't the teams use rearward facing cameras as F1 is meant to be the home of cutting-edge technology and mirrors are antiquated

  • Comment number 17.

received notification from the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Trust that the decision on the ´óÏó´«Ã½/Sky F1 appeal has been postponed again.
It now looks they wait with the handling of the appeal until after the details of the deal have been communicated.
How independent is the appeals procedure?

  • Comment number 18.

    Hi Murray

What do you think of the current spat between Bernie and the people behind the US GP in Texas. Will it be resolved do you think

  • Comment number 19.

murray if you had your own team which drivers would you have and why

  • Comment number 20.

    Hi Murray
My Question is regarding the raw speed of Hamilton, Vettel and Alonso. Vettel has proven to be the king of Qualifying with those blistering laps in the dying moments of Q3. My Question is who has the most raw speed out of Hamilton, Vettel and Alonso? Given that they are all in peak form, who will you think be the fastest?

  • Comment number 21.

Murray, Pirelli are increasingly looking to be the tail that wags the dog - do you think this should be allowed to continue?

  • Comment number 22.

    Hello Murray!

Do you think there has been a shift in support from Lewis Hamilton over to Jenson Button at McLaren this year? Martin Whitmarsh seems keen to remind us about Jenson even when Lewis has won a race! (Abu Dhabi for instance).

Do you think McLaren have got the balance of support wrong this year and have struggled to be fair to both drivers? I know both Lewis and Jenson are tied on three wins now, which is great. I hope they will have a car capable of winning from the start of next season - here's hoping!

    Murray

Where do you think Paul Di Resta will end up? I hope never Ferrari as their drivers always end up doing something to make me hate them. I used to think Alonso was brilliant but everything he does annoys me, and I hope if he goes to Merc, Schumacher is gone as I don't want him learnign how to endanger the lives of other drivers and then act like it's their fault.

    Hi Murray...

Sadly, it looks as though Massa will be dropped by Ferrari in 2013... so, with Kubica's return to fitness unproven, as yet, who do you see as the ideal new Ferrari "Number 2" driver? What about Kamui Kobayashi as a perfect choice? With a couple of seasons' experience, he's now no rookie... Alonso wouldn't really see him as a threat (as he might an on-form Kubica)... the Italians would surely go for his exuberant driving style... and, as an F1 fan, I'd love to see him mixing it with the top drivers in a competitive car.

  • Comment number 26.

Hi Murray, Imagine you're the boss of a top Grand Prix team, have one free seat and have Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button to fill it. Who do you give the drive to? No fence sitting please!

  • Comment number 27.

    Hello Mr Walker,

If placed in the exact car / package, who do you think would be the quickest driver in the paddock?

  • Comment number 28.

    Hello Murry,

Shouldn't places be awarded due to talent rather than the level of commercial backing a Driver can generate?

  • Comment number 29.

    Murray,

With limited rule changes next year, do you think Red Bull will be as unasailable as this year. If not, who do you think is best placed to catch them and beat them?

  • Comment number 30.

Do you think Paul Di Resta has been given a fair crack of the whip at Force India? I'm speaking specifically about race tactics. It seems that whenever Force India have adopted a split race strategy for their drivers, Adrian Sutil has benefited more often than not. When there are three drivers competing for two seats - Hulkenberg waiting in the wings - might this jeopardise the young Scotman's chances?

  • Comment number 31.

Murray, after the tragic loss of Daniel Wheldon, should more be done in Formula One to protect the driver's head in the event of an accident? The Schumacher Liuzzi crash in Abu Dhabi last year showed how a canopy or forward roll bar/struts could deflect cars/debris in this sort of incident.

  • Comment number 32.

Hi murray, do you think shumacher can win the title if he has a car good enough, would be amazing to see him and vettel battling it out week in week out!!

  • Comment number 33.

With the demise of the hot blown diffuser do you think this will change the pecking order of the grid or do you think Adrian Newey's genius will shine through once again. I hope not because it will make for another boring one sided season again. McLaren keep saying they must be competitive from the start of the season, but saying or wishing it is one thing, achieving it is quite another so is this just so much hot air.

  • Comment number 34.

This comment was removed because the moderators found it broke the house rules. Explain.

  • Comment number 35.

Do you think Schumacher would have won the Canadian Grand Prix had it not dried up? and Which circuits that are on the 2011 calendar would you like to see removed?

  • Comment number 36.

I see the ´óÏó´«Ã½ censors have objected to any mention of Sky.

    ABOLISH THE ´óÏó´«Ã½

  • Comment number 37.

Hello Murray, Why do you think drivers like Kobayashi are never truly considered for a drive in one of the top teams? Despite his success in an under performing car and his popularity with the fans, there have been no real suggestions of a future place for him with Mercedes, Ferrari, Mclaren or even Renault or Williams. Is it to do with personality or politics? Thank you and Best Wishes

  • Comment number 38.

    Hi Murray

What do you think of the Rumours that Robert Kubica is to drive for Ferrari in 2013?
And that he will spend next year driving around the Ferrari track in a two year old car to get ready?

  • Comment number 39.

Do you think Robert Kubica will be ready to return to racing in F1 next year? If so, do you think he will be able to return to his best form?

  • Comment number 40.

    Hi Murray

After improving this year, for example the great dives in Canada and Belgium, should Michael Schumacher extend his contract at the end of 2012, or retire for the second and most likely the last time?

    Remy Brown

  • Comment number 41.

Murray do you think Bernie Ecclestone puts too much emphasis on money when doing his deals with tracks and tv etc.

  • Comment number 42.

Will Kimi win a grand prix if and when he returns maybe not with Williams but with a team higher up once he proves he is as good as he was in 2005 and 2007? Should Renault consider Algersuari and/or an experienced driver (Rubens) rather than Senna and Petrov both make rookie mistakes, Algersuari is a future GP winner?

  • Comment number 43.

    Hi Murray,

With regards Jenson and Lewis, assuming we don't have a repeat next year of the team bungles, questionable penalties, a relentless negative media campaign and Lewis' errors.

do you think Jenson can beat Lewis again next year?

  • Comment number 44.

Vettel is cleary a fast driver but, is this all he is? He can drive fast but cannot race, is it good for formula one to have a double world champion who is yet to win a 'classic' GP?

  • Comment number 45.

With Button Finishing ahead of Hamilton on points does this indicate that Jenson is a faster or at least a more complete driver than Lewis or is it because Hamilton has had a bad season and Button an exceptional one and do you expect the order of 2010 being restored in 2012?

  • Comment number 46.

    Hi Murray.
In view of the recent KERS and now DRS systems, what, if any, technical innovation would you make in order to improve F1 as a competitive sport?
    Thanks, Tim.

  • Comment number 47.

    Murray,

Williams have really underperformed this season when you take into account their resources and expertise in relation to other midfield teams, and in my opinion they have not had a good season since 2003. Do you think that Kimi Raikkonen is the man to help them turn their fortunes around, especially considering his reputation gained during his time at Ferrari of not helping to develop the car?

  • Comment number 48.

Murray. We keep hearing about how much faster the Red Bull car is than everything else. However, Jenson has regularly beaten Mark Webber in the latter half of the season, is the car really that good, or is it really Sebastian that is making the difference? Is he really that good?

  • Comment number 49.

    Hi Murray

What do you think has happened in F1 recently that means the old giants of Williams, Ferrari and Mclaren are losing to "upstart" teams like Brawn and Red Bull?

  • Comment number 50.

    Murray,

    2 questions for you:

    [1]

How long will your question blog be live for? I have noticed that F1 blogs never go over 60 hours these days before they are closed for comments. The last one barely got over 48 hours. Censorship at its best. The ´óÏó´«Ã½ used to be a respected broadcasting organisation worldwide - blotted copy book this time round.

    [2]

Why don't the beeb add "blog" and "blogs" to their spell-checker?

  • Comment number 51.

    Hi Murray

In light of Lewis Hamilton's recent 'emotional' problems, do you feel drivers have become a bit too sensitive. Did they always be like this? I could never imagine Nigel Mansell saying anything like what Lewis has been saying...

  • Comment number 52.

Murray, why is there so little media interest in the young driver test?

It was far more interesting than your average practice session, as the teams were exploring solutions for next season, like Williams and Mercedes with periscope exhausts, and it was the first time we got to see the 2012 profile tyres.

Even though there was some comments on the poor calibre of some of the pay drivers at the test, there was more than just Vergne and Bianchi to be impressed by: Bottas in the Williams and Clos in the HRT were amazing; Leimer in the Sauber and Wickens in the Renault/Lotus and then the Virgin/Marussia also did well.

If it was streamed on the internet or shown on the red button I'm sure it would get a good number of views. It's been very difficult to follow as the live timing isn't even available on the F1 website.

  • Comment number 53.

Ignoring the contribution of the drivers, how would you compare this year's Red Bull car alongside other great cars of the past such as the Lotus 72, Lotus 79, McLaren MP4/4, Williams FW14 or any other car you would consider of similar levels of excellence.

  • Comment number 54.

    Greetings Murray,

It has always been known that Bernie has always wanted a New York Grand Prix. Do you think that he only signed up Austin in the first place because he couldn't get New York; but now he has managed to sign up the New York race, so he no longer cares for Austin and wouldn't mind dropping it?

  • Comment number 55.

Murry.....you are well missed. To make the sport more competative what are you views on having a similar system to the BTCC of added weight in the car for winners. Also how about points for fastest lap, grid position etc

  • Comment number 56.

    Hi Murray,
How much do you think Bernie was involved in the disgraceful Sky/´óÏó´«Ã½ F1 deal that will destroy the UK F1 audience, and when do you think he should step down?
    Thanks.

  • Comment number 57.

Murray will you buy 5-6 million viewers Sky Sports or will you admit that this deal is awful for the British public.

  • Comment number 58.

Hi Murray. After a very disappointing year in which he's underperformed greatly, can you see Mark Webber making a serious title challenge next year?

  • Comment number 59.

    Hi Murry
there has been talk over the years about women competing in F1
but i seem to recall that there was a woman testing for one of the team in the 70s
would you know who she is and how far she got in the sport?

  • Comment number 60.

Hi Murray, just wanted to ask you about Lewis this year. Had he been in top form, would Jenson still have beaten him in the championship? Will he bounce back next year?
    Matt

  • Comment number 61.

    Hi Murray
the season's coming to and end so i want to ask you about 2012. Is it felipe massa last chance at formula 1? do you think mclaren and ferrari will be ahead of redbull? and can mercedes gp make it a 4 way team battle for the podiums and wins? how do you think Michael Schumacher has performed compared to rosberg? he had more DNF'S.
    thankyou

  • Comment number 62.

Hey Murray, just wanted to know what are your thoughts on McLaren continuing the L-shaped side pods into 2012?

  • Comment number 63.

    Dear Murray,

Do you think that it would be fair for the FIA to modify the Resource Restriction Agreement to allow teams that are engine suppliers (Ferrari, Renault, Mercedes, etc.) to hire additional staff with the purpose of starting design and R&D on the new 2013 engines?

    Tom

  • Comment number 64.

What is your opinion on the Raikkonen wanting equal steak in Williams will it happen?

  • Comment number 65.

    hi Murray.
the broadcasting rights has gone to sky and bbc will only show 10 races are the highlights full races at a later time or is it just short highlights?
do you think buemi and algersuari should stay at torro rosso?
and the driver choices for renault torro rosso and williams?
do you see 2012 having 6 world champions?
    can mercedes win in 2012?

  • Comment number 66.

    Hello Murray

If you had to pick the best 10 formula 1 races to take away from the ´óÏó´«Ã½ next year then what would you choose?

Thank you and bye bye Murray.

  • Comment number 67.

    Hi Murray

Do you know if Shumacher is continuing next year at Mercedes, I've not heard a lot lately about next years drivers?

    Thanks
    Michael

  • Comment number 68.

Is it just me or has Bernie Ecclestone decided Texas is a surplus to requirements now that he has New York?

  • Comment number 69.

    Hi Murray,

Do you think that the 2011 season will be remembered as a classic season or a boring season of Red Bull dominance?

    Many thanks

    Tom

  • Comment number 70.

    Hi Murray,

Should the limit on the number of people working on a team be raised? Front runners such as Ferrari have complained again this year that they need more to cover the (possibly) 20 races next season. Do you think that is unfair on smaller teams with less backing such as HRT?

Also, I have been dissapointed at the lack of action in Q3 at the moment. Maybe a point should be given for every driver to finish in the top 8 in Q3 next year, with two given for pole? Then we should stop seeing people like di resta focusing so much on race setup during saturday.

    Cheers,

  • Comment number 71.

Murray, what is your opinion on the rate of expansion of Formula 1 with regards to the number of races? Do you think it's good that Formula 1 is branching out into new markets, and thereby giving it a wider audience? Are you concerned that by having more races in the season, the traditional races in Europe may be lost? And where, if anywhere, do you think Formula 1 should go next?

  • Comment number 72.

murray, if mark webber was to leave/lose his seat at red bull at some point, who could you see taking up his spot?

  • Comment number 73.

What do you think about DRS and the new tyres? Are they just making it artifical racing.

  • Comment number 74.

murray is it possible to see schumacher to look to move to redbull in 2013 or even mclaren if hamilton gos to redbull as am guessing he does not have many years to wait for merc to get there act together

  • Comment number 75.

Hi Murray, I'm a bit young to remember the days of your commentating but do you think with the ban on the diffuser next year that the field will be much colder next year?

  • Comment number 76.

Murray, should Herman Tilke circuits come in at the expense of older ones?

  • Comment number 77.

Would it be better for Robert Kubica to get more testing in and prove his fitness and try for a more competitive team (Ferrari ?) and have a really good comeback or get back in the uncompetitive Renault as soon as possible?

  • Comment number 78.

What do you think about the bottom three teams each year being allowed extra testing to try and raise standards?

  • Comment number 79.

hi Murray what do you think of Bruno senna's performance this year and do you think he deserves to stay at Renault next year?

  • Comment number 80.

How do you think Jenson beating Lewis in the championship this year will affect his driving style and descisions next year since he has always been number 1 in the team??

  • Comment number 81.

Hi murray, do you think that lewis maybe needed a couple of poor seasons to learn that you can't always be in the best car on the grid as he has being in his early years and that maybe this will help put him in a good place in the future as jenson is now, after learning F1 the hard way it would seem jenson really appriciates the position and place he is in now which in turn seems to make him faster and smarter.

  • Comment number 82.

do you think kubica will return next year?

  • Comment number 83.

    Dear Murray,

I know you are getting on a bit in life but, I would prefer to see and here more from you than we currently do. Keep it up for as long as you can because I think you are really sharp still and a great British treasure. Too many on here see you as a kind of Mystic Meg of F1. The truth is that you are a supremely knowledgeable expert with a unique style and not a psychics. A bit biased towards our home grown greats as well. I am too. Button, Mansell, Hill, Hamilton. Your contribution is priceless.

    Kindest regards

    GB

  • Comment number 84.

Hi Murray, I'd like to know your opinion of 'modern' f1 through this season. Did you enjoy the excitement of DRS and Pirelli tyres, or did you feel that it made overtaking too easy. And do you also enjoy visiting the new tracks (Korea last year, India this year) despite the fact they seem to lack real charcater.
Keep up the amazing work, Murray
    Connor

  • Comment number 85.

Rubens Barrichello has been a permanent fixture on the F1 grid for nearly 20 years now. He may not be on the grid next year, so what are your thoughts on his talent as a racing driver, and what are your thoughts as him as a person?

  • Comment number 86.

Hi Murray. Does it annoy you that there's so much talk about Hamilton's difficulties and so much less about Button's successes? By the way, I think they're both great drivers.

  • Comment number 87.

Murray, do you think it was a mistake for F1 not to go with the radical rule changes suggested by Patrick Head and Rory Byrne?

Do you think Force India will become a serious challenge to the top teams with help from the new investment from Sahara?

What is your opinion of Charles Pic who has rumoured to have signed for Virgin/Marussia next year?

Have you got your eye on anyone coming up through the junior formulae?

This year, the stewards were meant to be much more transparent with their decision making, such as by releasing video footage not available in the world feed that influenced their decision in giving or not giving a penalty. Why has this not happened (apart from a couple of Driver Stewards giving their opinion to the media afterwards)? Do you think the stewarding will ever become more transparent?

Do you think it would be better to have points penalties rather than time penalties or grid penalties? (Drive throughs can vary greatly in how much they affect a drivers race. Giving a grid penalty to a HRT driver is really no penalty at all.)

  • Comment number 88.

Hi Murray, may i start by saying you are a legend & while i enjoy the current presenters of F1 (martin & eddie & dc) they for me are just not you, you are sorely missed old friend. My question to you murray is that since this deal has been announced between sky & bbc (which the ´óÏó´«Ã½ claim to be ecstatic about & claim we should all be over the moon about) how do you feel about it? I have followed F1 for over 25yrs & i'm gutted to not be able to watch all the races live. I know you have always said Murray that first & foremost you was & always will be a fan of F1, i have been just as passionate & still am about F1 as clearly are millions more in the UK. So how can anybody ever be happy about this deal? it's a sport that has to be watched 100% live! 2nd hand just won't do. For me & i know for an awful lot of fellow brits we will have no choice but to turn our backs on F1 now over this horrendous deal. A very sad day for myself, my fellow brits & for F1 in general. thank you Murray

  • Comment number 89.

which is the best way to go d.r.s or kers and we all miss you murry

  • Comment number 90.

    Hi Murray,
Do you think Mr. Ecclestone is playing the "show me the money game" in regards to next years US GP in Austin or giving the full calendar, he really only wants one US GP,
    e.g. New Jersey in 2013

  • Comment number 91.

Murray the reaction of the U.K fans has been overwhelmingly negative to the Sky deal , it will hurt the sport and diminish its viewing audience so my question is how can the ´óÏó´«Ã½ be a body that you represent when it is against everything you worked for in your career?.

    Hi Murray,

Will you still be recording these videos for us next year? I've really enjoyed them.

    Thanks!

Dear friends this is a statement: Vettel the racing driver's Name is pronounced

    " F E T T E L " The German V = F The W = V

    All the best Manfred Schnauffer.

  • Comment number 95.

    Murray,

It has been noted in the commentaries this season that some teams are choosing not to set a lap time in qualifying 3 (Q3) to save a set of tyres and pick a tyre to start on, do you think teams should be forced to set a lap time in Q3? (excepting for those who suffer failures and/or crashes and cannot set one). Would a rule, saying that those choosing not to set a lap time start the race from the pitlane, work? Or is this an issue that can't/won't be changed?

  • Comment number 96.

    Dear Murray,
You have always been 'the voice' of F1, I have so many happy memories of watching races with you being a legendary commentator. My question is:
When is the ´óÏó´«Ã½/SKY deal going to get the attention it deserves? My viewing pleasure has been ruined by the 'elephant in the room' coverage since July 29th. I am shocked and worried that so many respected people in F1, including yourself, are not making more noise about this. Pro or anti, this needs discussion, not secrecy and lies.
    Murray, do the right thing.

    NO TO SKY!

  • Comment number 97.

With the likely demise of the US GP, meaning there may be 19 races instead of 20 next year, will this mean the ´óÏó´«Ã½ will now be broadcasting less than half the races next year, and will also not be allowed by Sky to show the last race of the season?

  • Comment number 98.

A strong and effective board of directors can keep a CEO in check. Mechanisms can be put in place to prevent anyone from holding power for too long. As F1 continues to push for even bigger financial returns for Ecclestone inc. has it ever crossed your mind that the sport we all once knew and loved has been prostituted?

I believe that Bernie's EnF1terainment Circus is now totally unrecognisable as motorsport, it has become the playground of billionaires where competition is dictated by squandering nauseating amounts of cash. Bernie fed an anorexic F1 with exposure, the bloated mutant that staggers from country to country on his current gravy-train is the end result of unfettered greed. The circus is manipulated to try and make it interesting. Maybe rain sprays soon ! Or manipulate the tyre manufacturers, ban, lift ban, impose DRS, whatever next! Eventually he will alienate the loyal fan base and it will end. F1 that is, greed knows no bounds it will just move on to another sport.

    Hi Murray

Ive been following your F1 commetary since you first picked up a microphone for the ´óÏó´«Ã½, even watched during the itv period.

I would like to know if the ´óÏó´«Ã½ will be showing full reruns, or just limited highlights on the non live races next season.

Ive allways enjoyed your work, but sadly unless we can watch F1 in full on terristrial TV next season, the last race from Brazil this year will be the last time we will be able to follow the sport we have supported since the 1950s.

No to limited highlights of non live races.

    Yes to terristrial TV.

MURRY ME OLD COCKER. do you think its time we put alittle spice back into f1 ? rather than the same eight drivers fighting it out for those top eight spots. why dont we reverse the grid every now and again to mix things up , just for the paying public and all that .
