Maybe the Newsnight Review production team ought to broaden their outlook. Aren't we bored rigid by condescendingly xenophobic potrayals of fake Kazakhstanis, when British people know nothing whatsoever about the real thing? This clever dick approach to Manuel-like foreigners is long past its sell-by date.
McCarthyism is also pass茅, as is Spielberg in this guise. Do we need any more apocalyptic road movies and profound analyses of the relationship between the indigenous and immigrant Americans? Why so much America, anyway?
The only bit of really good America was pooh-poohed by some of the panel: David Smith. This was the highlight of the Newsnight Review tonight. Tate Modern is being really disingenuous. It has tried boring people to death with gimmicks and naked rooms with flashing lights, realises it has failed, and is now sneaking back to good old traditional sculpture.
I'm afraid that I think that the Round-Up bit about Penguin turning books into artefacts makes me want to wince. Books are to be read, not stroked and fondled by designer fetishists.
Kirsty, who otherwise seems so pro-European, should bully her producers and bosses into introducing more Europe into this ailing Review.

I agree with Collected Eric with one exception. I propose having all of the Republicans and Democrats meet in a room, lock the door, throw away the keys, and force feed them Borat as a compensation for humanity.

Hate to sound like a philistine, but did the panel really find those sculptures beautiful? They looked alarmingly similar to the stuff dumped by young adults(or rather, children)near my home.

I have just been to see Borat at our local cinema, and loved every minute of it.
There were lots of gasps at the very un-pc parts, and at some of the attitudes expressed by the Americans portrayed too.
On the whole everyone enjoyed it, and there was a lot of laughter and good memories as the people poured out of the cinema.
I find the sanctimonious, snobbish and prudish remarks expressed in the Newsnight Review programme, and by some posters above excessive.
People need to chill out and just enjoy a comedian who is ripping the p*** out of (ok) Kazakhstanis, but also the USA, and most of all himself!
I work very hard in a poor town, and I find this snooty attitude from supercilious know-alls riling. I shall laugh at what I think is funny, and enjoy their tutting condescension.
