British emigrants to Canada post WWII (primarily ex-serviceman, and now new Canadians) will not be surprised by the new words imposed upon us by the Daily Mail. All too frequently we see evidence of the depths to which too many British newspapers have descended.
Their objective seems to be to substitute sex and scandal for news, often discarding grammar and spelling.

I watched the review last night and was struck by how london-centric it is - and in my experience usually is! Have you noticed that Newcastle has been identified as the arts centre of England? How about featuring this achievement and covering the interesting range of accessible arts events and projects and showing how they have been developed - even without the investment which had been hoped for from the Year of Culture funding?

NATALIE HAYNES' KNITTING 260107
I was interested to hear Natalie say she knitted while watching TV, and put her knitting down, or not, according to how interesting she became in the programme. I thought : if only more women still knitted* to feel relaxed, they wouldn't want to eat, smoke or drink while watching ** and their overweight problems would be corrected. Hope Natalie brings knitting back into fashion. I didn't know her name but will be looking out for her now, wondering what she's knitting!
* healthy and productive
** unhealthy with unwanted side-effects
