Met on the Case
In the last few minutes the electoral commission has decided to refer the Labour disguised donations affair to the Metropolitan Police "for further investigation." So could we be on the cusp of another criminal investigation into a New Labour funding row? Tonight Newsnight has more information about the Labour Cabinet Minster Harriet Harman, and questions about how she funded her successful campaign to become Deputy Leader of the party.
The Economy
Gloomy news for house owners today, with more evidence of a slow down. With rising inflation and signs of slower growth, could we be heading for a recession?
Climate Change
We have an exclusive interview with Sir Nicholas Stern ahead of next weeks Bali conference. In a speech tonight he will make alarming warnings about the risk of failure.
Boom Town
We have a fascinating film from Siberia on a newly built oil boom town. Glitzy buildings, entertainment and public facilities all built from the energy reserves that are transformimg Putin's Russia.

Height restriction - a function of estrogenisation.

Wee Dougie's sister Wendy who is the Labour leader in Scotland has today
conceded that she too broke the law.
Why don't you cancel the Newsnight Scotland 'opt-out' - and deal with
both stories by going Nation-Wide?

What's up with the international live streaming? Hasn't worked all week. Some of the 大象传媒 news recorded clips are screwing up as well with 'DoubleClick Ad' appearing as a title before crashing.
When a video ad does appear it cuts out after 10 seconds when someone is speaking who clearly has several sentences left to go.
That said, the recorded Newsnight is still playing okay.
Is live feed being blocked because of the new bbc.com regime or is a tech snafu?

Now there's a surprise!
Many of us who consider ourselves environmentalists are disturbed by the disappearance of far more worrying issues such as pollution from the media's agenda.
Yet there is still no clear evidence of causation for a strong human link to warming. Yes, I'm very familiar with the fictional climate computer models that physicists regard as a joke, and a "consensus" which is little more than groupthink amongst friends.
Now we have mercury being reintroduced to "environmentally friendly" light-bulbs!
When will Susan Watts start to fulfill the "Science" part of her job description?
A little even handedness would be a start.

Public service television at its best, that's tonight's Newsnight. It is depressing to see the evasiveness of New Labour under New Gordon, who seems to think that laws that they promoted and passed regarding political party funding are irrelevant. In the same way that their paid assassins adopt extreme interpretations of traffic and parking regulations to zealously punish motorists, I hope that the full weight of the electoral law is applied to New Labour, and the maximum penalties are applied for any and all breaches, if any. This Government, under Mr Brown, have demonstrated all that is grotesque, unprecendented, bizarre and unbelievable; a GUBU Government.

If Gordon Brown is truly a 'Stalinist' (Old Labour) he must have known he'd be given an impossible ride by the Neocons (Trots) both from here and from across the Atlantic. Just look at the way they treat N. Korea, Iraq, Iran, Sudan, and Russia (back in the late 80s and early 90s with the Chicago Boy 'shock therapists'). Look back to Harold Wilson's time in the 60s/70s, The Lavander List expose, and the subsequent infiltration/demolition of Old Labour by Neocons (Militant).
Blair warned of 'the great clunking' (Socialist International) fist, but in reality, his rosy promises faired no better for indigenous Brits.
