Today's programme producer is Robert Morgan - here is his early email to the production team. What would you like to see on the programme?

Good morning,

We have what promises to be a really strong lead story once it's been finally signed off legally. I'll tell you more in the morning meeting.

There are a number of strong stories we could do today including the NATO row over troops in Afghanistan. Is its mission in jeopardy? There's Kenya, Northern Rock and Scottish care for the elderly too. Any ideas are more than welcome on how to do these stories and any others.

A big discussion on a major story would be good.

Robert

Worth a tail-piece about Crick's guesstimate of there being over a 100 MPs with employees on the payroll.

Now that Cameron has fessed up to 70 of his MPs falling into this category, the figure of 100 might be, ahem a 'conservative' estimate...

Dear Newsnight

Intriguing,

look at www.vetmps.org.uk

you don't have to beat a country on the battlefield anymore, you seek to subvert their political leaders instead,

as you see they can be the weak link in any democracy, we are all fallible, weak at times, prone to mistakes ,errors which can be used against any of us,

that is why vetting, and routine ongoing checks have to be brought in just as it is required for all senior civil servants,

it's definitely not about excluding people from politics just protecting those who hold the highest office and can send are forces to war from other countries, people, companies or organisations who would try to exert pressure on them, and protecting our country at the same time,

otherwise, who knows our forces might be sent to war to do the bidding of a leader of another country,

best wishes
Bob
