Carol Rubra is today's programme producer. Here is her early email to the production team.
Good morning,
We have lots of goodies in the programme tonight.
Hillary makes a comeback, but how much of a comeback is it? Peter Marshall and Ben are in Washington. Let's discuss treatment ideas and angles for them to explore and discussion guests.
We have a very strong film from Karen Allen containing new allegations of state sanctioned violence in the recent riots in Kenya. We are bidding for a Kenyan govt response.
We also have Madeleine Holt and Ed Main's film which didn't run yesterday. It's an investigation into the health risks of so-called bareback gay porn - that is films showing men having unprotected sex. Following the investigation, three films have been withdrawn from sale. There have been concerns from within the gay community that performers are being infected with HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases. .
Today is also the day when MPs finally vote on the whether there should be a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty.
Any thoughts on a playout?

"Any thoughts on a playout?"
Please please please could we have a re-run of last night's splendiferous interview with Nick Clegg, where he accused the Labour party of reneging on their commitment to a referendum, which has caused much hilarity / wailing and gnashing of teeth [delete as approp.] in the blogosphere...
Maybe with a suitable backing music soundtrack :-
Cher - If I could turn back time [I didn't mean to say the things I said]
D-ream - Things can only get better
Fred Astaire / Ginger Rogers singing 'You say constitution, I say treaty' [Let's call the whole thing off]

Dear Ms Rubra
A possible story idea for today?
In light of the drop in profits announced today by ITV and in recognition of a changing world where advertising revenues will continue to decline, and without this being a reflection on the work on any broadcasting outlet but accepting that both the 大象传媒 and ITV are important and complimentary in meeting the viewing needs of our diverse population that instead of the 大象传媒 seeking to imitate aspects of ITV that a percentage of the licence fee, perhaps 20% should now go to ITV?
best wishes
Bob

From out here in the sticks we are getting financially squeezed by banks, increases in taxes, threatened food rises, bakns writing off 拢billions (never our debts). We see apartments being built wondering who will be able to afford them. We await a budget and what will that do to pull us out of this money meltdown.
We need an in depth programme on all these topics. Budget time is an appropriate time.

Hilary Clinton:
Reaction is how wonderful it is that the USA, a country always maligned by the UK, isn't tainted with ageism. McCain would, I believe, make an excellent president. I do not support Hiliary, but all power to her, if she was here in the UK she would already be a grey-haired, bowed pensioner considered past it by both the public and her own conditioned self-image!

sorry to post again, I agree with the ageism comment in Post 4,
and a much older leader has a lot to be said for it as they might have a greater perspective and humility about what life is all about than perhaps someone who is younger, and perhaps govern accordingly with a bit more compassion and moderation, ardour tempered by age?
a leader who comes to power late in life might be better suited to the job in many ways than if they rose to power earlier?
ageism is a big problem here, how many gifted people has it sidelined or pushed into premature retirement to be replaced by lesser people... cue stories
best wishes
Bob

Questions that spring to mind...
How old was Margaret Thatcher when she became PM, and how old when she left office? (And did she really show "great perspective and humility about what life is all about"?)
How old is Hillary Clinton?

Vanity Fair has published an interesting article
It illustrates the true US commitment to democracy.
As we so often hear the leaders in the west talking about freedom & democracy and how they use it as an excuse for intervention, I really believe it is incumbent on the 大象传媒 to portray the reality behind the rhetoric.

Dear Poster (6)
answers that spring to mind,
we can point to examples of people or things we possibly dislike (although others might applaud them?) but does this undermine a line of argument?
best wishes
Bob

Bob, that's not answers. That's barely *an* answer.
My primary point was less to do with Thatcher's record in office (that's why that part was in parenthesis).
You didn't answer the primary questions that perhaps do undermine your line of argument...
