Robert Morgan is today's programme producer. Here is his morning email to the production team. You can contribute your ideas and views below.

Good morning everyone,

Voting is under way in local council elections in England and Wales - and in the contest to decide who'll be the next mayor of London. About 4,000 seats will be decided. It's the first big electoral test for Gordon Brown as Prime Minister.

Jeremy Vine from the 大象传媒 Election programme is going to give us a run down of the key electoral battlegrounds and we'll have an ICM poll for tonight. Michael and Hugh are in the North of England. David and Myranda are in London. We'll need to chase up guests from the three main political parties.

Robin Denselow is in Austria examining what the Fritzl case tells us about the country and its past.

Other stories include the Bank of England report, and the . Any other ideas welcome including playout thoughts.

Robert

We are clearly going to go off at a tangent with regard to an analysis/explanation about the abuse in Austria in order to avoid a far more extensive problem that we do not wish to face.

This kind of gender violent abuse of usually young girls is not unique to Austria and to try to link it with Germany's Nazi past is specious.

This kind of abuse is world wide, what has shocked us is the discovery that it took place in a nice middle class suburban area. If it had been discovered in Pakistan, it would not have been news worthy.

Natascha Kampusch the other victim of kidnap and abuse spoke on Newsnight last night, Wed. 30th Apr 08. The interviewer put a leading question to her in order to get the response that this was linked with Germany's past. Her answer was that this is happening everywhere not just in Austria. However, she did make an effort to respond to the link he so obviously wanted to make i.e. the link with Germany's Nazi past, but her answer was not the one he expected, she made a different link one that German socialism may have lead to its detrimental affect on females.

In the closing clip on Newsnight this crucial point she made was cut. Listen again to the interview and then the closing clip and note the cut.

Ms. Kampusch is giving a message about misogyny which she clearly states is not confined to Austria, and this is being obscured so that we do not have to face the full facts of the level of sexual abuse that patriarchy either condones or ignores world wide.

We can't blame Nazis for this kind of behaviour, the culprits are of a larger group, the culprits are MEN.

The Fritzl family have suffered an appalling tragedy and so has Natascha Kampusch. Its possible to place a malicious interpretation on these circumstances and use them as a stick to beat Austria and the Austrians but I think most reasonable people would recognise that appalling things happen in all countries. Your assertion that the Austria, its people history and culture are directly responsible is simply racist.

Could Newsnight please look into the story covered here:

I'd like to know if it is true.

DESIST AND COMPLY OR BE APPREHENDED

I note that the police "Taser Yell" is not only uttered solely in English, but uses the word: "comply" Did Boris Johnson have a hand in its composition? Would not a better cry be: "Do as I say or I will hurt you with electricity"?

    WHAT IS TRUE?

Oh manchester me - misery me. I followed your link.
What is true beyond doubt, or change is (1)that we are animals who react badly to difference in others - any difference (2) we are viscerally territorial (3) we have a smidgen of higher intellect that we have universally applied to inventing gods and religions; all different and all mutually exclusive. Gunpowder also has three ingredients. Read: "A Land Without a People" (Nur Masalha) and pray the next god along has power to resolve the impossible.

Manchester me #3 - Seth Freedman (author of said article) added this link:
