Andy Street of John Lewis on Newsnight
On Newsnight last night, Emily Maitlis asked Andy Street, the managing director of , how much he was paid. Street said he wasn't going to announce the figure "on national TV", but also pointed out that it is freely available "in the public domain".
So I can reveal that Mr Street is paid £500,000 a year, and got a 15 per cent bonus last year.

There is no real economic growth out there other than loads of cheap cash from QE and the defecit sloshing around looking to prop up an asset bubble or two.
Either way this country is stuffed thanks to Brown and others. The issue for JLP and others is how to survive the ongoing catastrophe known as the UK economy: there will be good moments, bad times and rough patches. You organise your business as best you can to meet the challenges ahead.

If executive salaries were regulated by law so that the highest could only earn 20 times the lowest would it stop ambitious people climbing the greasy pole to the top? Nah.
