The DIY coffin man
I knew it would only be a matter of time before Michael O'Shea and his DIY coffin made the . We were talking about eco-burials on yesterday's show , and Michael phoned in to tell us that he's saving himself some money by constructing his own coffin from plywood, at a cost of just £75. He says he's storing the coffin in his garage.

I am absolutely amazed at the interest shown in the simple process of making a coffin. I suppose it is because I am making it myself. But hey! - DIY bread-making or wine-making doesn't make news! Why coffin-making? I leave you to answer this.

Fame at last!

Thanks William for being so hospitable during our radio chat. You made me feel at home.
OK Michael - so your family is just going to put you in your box and carry you across the road to the church without the help of an 'undertaker' - perhaps they will have to bring you in a 4*4 from a mortuary? - without any 'body' preparation - will the church be happy with that? They will have to pay the church - that distillation - 'page not found'?? - serious questions Michael! - as an Atheist - and member of the Alliance Party!!
I find it strange that people find someone making their own coffin unusual. Pretty cool I must admit, though.
