He pronounced it like that on purpose, and kept a straight face, methinks.
Eddie,
Thanks for the link it's brilliant. I'm now cleaning cherry coke off my screen as I type this out.
I'm with you Eddie
Now what regulations do we need...
Well, with a name like Shaun Leay, what can you expect?
I do giggly ever time I hear someone on R4 talking about the show "Cross Incontinents"
Fantastic! Takes us back to the old Craps as an incoming message signal thing.
On second thoughts -Hey guys, find summat serious and non-chatlineish to say about this one?
Well I could make a contribution about the intellectual prowess of the Alexander family's politically-driven genes, but I might fall asleep before I'd reached the end of the sentence.....
SB1, probably not though
:( I've got to wait 'til I get home before I can access the link. Not fair!
I shouldn't bother FF, I just tried and got a message saying - a general error has occurred. Sad that, listen again works quite well.
However I am not downhearted mainly because about 30 minutes ago postie arrived and brought our holiday tickets. Scarily soon we are off to Oz for 17 days.....hooray.
I'm not in the least surprised. Regulation comes in all shapes and sizes. And the Blair government is very hands-on.
ooo Anne (8) - have a lovely time!
Unbelievable! I just got the speed/malicious content message for wishing Anne a nice holiday!!!
Have a nice time over there, Anne, and don't forget to send Eddie & Lissa a card!
SB11
Anne (8), is that the place with the wizard?
well I'm not going quite yet. I have another week to listen to EM and socialise with all of you. I shall of course be sending a totally pointless post card and maybe Lissa will post it up for you.
Do you think a picture of a kangaroo would be pointless enough? all iother suggestions gratefully received and thought about.
anne : what about a postcard from the airport, a nice view of the aeroplanes?
Anne - Rolf Harris and Clive James standing in front of Sydney Opera House in a bit of a stereotypical way? Perhaps with Skippy bouncing past on an errand of mercy?
Have a great time. Coincidentally have spent most of this afternoon trying to organise a holiday for Teenage Daughter and me (bonding, don't y'know), only to discover we still have the passport renewal form and photos sitting in the to-do pile, eeeek. How fast do they issue renewals these days, anyone know??
Sb15
Valery,
Eek. So's my pastport (sic, an expired passport)...and it goes up very soon as well, 'cept not many good photos of me these days, even within all the new stair straight at the camera rules.
You can get a fastish service by taking to post office and paying some extra for them to check the forms first and speeding them off, saving a week if I remember correctly.
sb16
re passports, it depends how much you want them, really. A few years ago I had to renew my passport. Now, I travel a fair amount for work into Europe (one of the reasons that Fearless Fred is also Single Fred, but enough about that...). If you need a passport urgently (i.e. less than 1 week) you can travel to the local passport office and get it done that day. If you've got a couple of weeks' grace, you can visit the office, but for a bit less dosh, get your passport in under a fortnight (I did this option and had the new one three days later via registered post). You're also lucky in that you're outside the busy window of april to june/july, when there's usually a rush on, so you should be able to get an appointment at the local office in a matter of days...
Thank you both, will trot to post office in the morning, to see if their fast track thing will be successful. Failing that, it'll be a 150 mileish round trip to the nearest Passport Office at vast expense, plus 75%ish premium to get it fast. Methinks they have us disorganized folk over a barrel!
anne, why not take a postcard of a local tourist spot with you and post that from oz. Now that really would be pointless.
Have a good time. Let us know when you get back.
H.
