Apologies

Eddie Mair | 10:36 UK time, Thursday, 26 October 2006

to all of my colleagues. I beat up many of them this morning, leaving them black and blue. It was all a misunderstanding.

...a misunderstanding you say Eddie. Well, I have to admit, it's very easy to be misunderstood. And, it seems, even the American President, on occassion, has that problem. Especially when President George W Bush and Vice-President Dick Cheney dined at a Washington restaurant.

The waitress approached their table to take their order.

She is young and very attractive.

She asks Cheney what he’d like, and he replies: "I'll have the heart-healthy salad."

"Very good, Sir," she replies, and turning to Bush she asks, "And what would you like, Mr President?"

Bush looks at the Menu and turning to her answers: "How about a quickie?"

Taken aback, the waitress slaps his face and says: "I'm shocked and disappointed in you Mr President! I thought your administration was committed to high principles and morality. I have to say, I'm sorry now that I voted for you."

And, with that, the waitress departed in a huff...

Cheney leans over to Bush, and says: "Mr President, I believe that's pronounced Quiche."

So gay and young and fragile
    So sweetly it did sing
Such thoughts of joy and happiness

    Hi jonnie (45)?

Yip - Mr Evans (Radio Two 5pm) works very hard these days. In a caring sharing sort of way. His blog works, his newsletter works, his radio programme works, his voice works (no annoying squeaky bits on air).

He can also tell the difference between Sir Menzies and Sir Malcolm, when he's interviewing them, has he so often does these days. Where else do you think 'Ming' gets all his Arctic Monkey stuff from? And Mr Evans has only got one, yes that's ONE, programme editor to hold the whole thing together. Oh yes, I could go on, so I will.

Chris (Radio Two 5PM) I think is a consumate professional who's love of his work allows him to install in him performance and depth, vitality and emotion which is infectious to his vast radio audiences, he's got, oh at least 64% of the 5pm - 6pm market share, you know. He has a quick and sometimes cynical humour that flows easily through his show. He's just brilliant. Top geezer is Chris! You can catch him (regularly) on Radio Two at 5pm. See you on the ice.

And yes his newsletter did turn up, as usual without any fuss.

I must say, from what little I've heard of Chris Evans lately, he's a lot more engaging than he used to be.

But I wouldn't swap him for Sir Eric. Even though I generally only lust after taller men.... and I have an impression that neither of them qualifies.

Besides which, current affairs is much sexier than pure entertainment. Eric combines both.

bit like Whisht and silver-fox do,

I'm sure CE he has a good show, I might try a 'listen again' one day. Although I personally liked the more laid back Johnny Walker approach.

We are very lucky in this country that our National Public service broadcster, namely the ´óÏó´«Ã½, offers us such diversity of programnming, even without DAB, and I tend to dip in and out of them all and adore the lovely Victoria Derbyshire on Five Live. A lot of foreigners that visit seem to be confused between what the four FM Networks are meant to carry, expecting that Radio 1 would be the main speech based one.

P'raps it would have been better to brand the Networks with proper names, a bit like it used to be with Home Service, Light programme, and who in those bygone days decided to call the classical network, the third programme ? Very original!!

Now for some reason I can never make a link work, can someone tell me what I have to do, but have just been alerted to this one so for those of you who want to see a lady squashing grapes - as was live on Fox News - you'll have to copy and paste :-

    Hi All,....

I'm a bit tired at the mo, and I have a fairly early start in the morning (8:30 appointment) but I can say things seemed fairly promising, and we're going to try and arrange to meet up again soon. When I get a chance tomorrow, I'll frog more about it on the beach, if that's okay?

*yawn* Time for me to go to bed, I think... g'night all!

    Hello Everyone,

I'm very late today and I have to get up really early so I'm just popping in for a quick one. Looks like I missed a very frustrating day anyway.

Fearless, we would like a full report in the morning purrlease!

    I think I'll have a qucik tipple on the beach then it's sleep-time :)

I never received my Walnut Whip from Big Sis, Was duped out of a rightful prize from Ed (all down to Stu posting after the newsletter had been sent!!)

I AM the last post! and therefore deserve something (apart from a thumping headache in the morning)

Goodness knows what I'll look like on the August beach tomorrow Mrs T !

However, since you all ask I did have a nice night and and apologies for not making it to last

    Good morning everyone.

My email was down yesterday, I disconnected everything, prayed (or whatever atheists do, anyway, hoped maybe) and this morning back to normal.

So I have spent some time catching up.

I assumed that no counter means giving up on it. Seemed sensible to me as it was rarely accurate.

The sky is brightening, I must get going, I have the family coming to stay!

    Morning all,
I'm hoping this post is accepted. When I tried to post to August last night it bounced me and said I had been posting too often even though it was hours since the previous one - I know because I wasn't here.

At least I'm assuming we don't have an impersonation problem and someone thought I was here. I do hope not since the bouncing seems to be the result of insulting and inappropriate postings by some.

    How sad.

    Morning all,
I'm off to the beach again so will see you all there although I don't expect to see jonnie until at least lunch time after such a late night.
FF I hope your date went well I shall not pry but am curious :o)
Eddie, I still have not had my news letter from yesterday (although it would be superfluous now). Can we expect one today or would that be too much to ask for?

    See you on the beach

I hang my head in shame at your mention of no-show WWhip.

I still have to locate one - and I've been looking in every sweetie shop I've passed since said pledge to send.

I will keep trying, so don't lose hope. These WWhips appear to be quite elusive these days.

    Back to the beach .....

No, I didn't get a newsletter either .... And Eddie is staying strangely silent now.

I do hope he is okay and hasn't got the strop with all of us, or with the rest of his lovely team.

My husband always gets terribly upset and frantic when the 'new technology' (i.e. the fax, computer, scanner, etc.) don't 'work' (usually because he's pressed the wrong buttons, or in the wrong sequence) and ends up in a very, very bad mood. I find it hard to think Eddie would be like this .......

Hi all! Very strange and sleepy blog, this one. Am curious to know how Mrs T finds the time to drive to and from work, cook fantastic meals and spend all day lounging around on the beach.

Can't help feeling we're all waiting for something to happen.

Work calls (or rather shouts at me and thumps me in the back!). See you all later. FF - was Rose revived?

By the way, Lady P, don't give up on the web dating thing. My daughter met her absolutely lovely husband on one.

FF which site did you use, last time I tried I had the sum total of 0 offers/replies ;o(
Also somthing strange happening on the beach today. I have tried to post twice this morning and none of them have appeared. Odd eh?

Compared with Fearless's peerless creation they were all a bit flat.

    Pun intended. ;oD
