Coming soon to PM
a unique radio experiment. Involving photographs.
Every night at 5, we try to bring you a picture of the world.
Now we want a picture of YOUR world at five o'clock.
DON'T take a picture yet - we have a specific date in mind on which we want millions of cameras whirring on the stroke of 5pm. We'll tell you when! You'll be able to email them to us or send them in the post.
What's vital is that it's a picture of what YOU are normally looking at at 5pm. We don't want to see you (no offence) but your view of the world as we come on air. It can be drab, exciting, colourful or plain...as long as it's yours we're happy.
I too will be taking a photo on the day...of the beautiful people through the glass in the PM studio. I wonder what your view of the world is at 5pm? Don't tell me...wait to show me.
I'm not sure how to tell you this, Eddie, but you've already DONE the photographic thing. And it was so successful you did an interview with Mark Lawson about it on Front Row. Have you forgotten already? I guess you've been pretty busy, what with the apologising and everything. Luckily there's a transcript on your "I'm very very well-known " thread if you need reminding.
Keep up the good work.
BTW have you seen jonnies new site? Perhaps, now we know you're such a wine buff, you might be persuaded to share your knowledge with us in a section called "Eddie's Bargain Bin Buy of the Week" or similar -after all, I don't see why ALL of us need to spend time searching the internet for the cheap deals if you're already doing it.
If I had a camera, you would see various black blobs and a night sky, illuminated by a single steet light next to a hospital bus-stop. I still may try to draw it though, I'm just warning you.
Will we know in advance when it is going to happen? I can only listen live on wednesdays!
Do you detect a certain reluctance on the part of your regulars Eddie? I shan't tell you what I can usually see at 5pm then, you can wait and be spellbound.
btw, a pal phoned to tell me her postcard had turned up last week, so does that mean you've now got DonKeyHattie, and if so, will you just use him as a bookmark or something?
...is that 5pm in your time zone Eddie, or 5pm my time zone? There'll be a marked difference in pictures depending on which time zone you choose...
Ive taken the liberty of setting up a group on Flickr.
My camera doesn't 'whirr'. Will I be excluded?
I'm not as excited about this as I was - I've realised that there will simply be lots of photographs of PC screens with the blog on...
My camera doesn't 'whirr'. Will I be excluded?
gossipmistress, I think a lot of our cameras don't whirr anymore. I know mine doesn't. I think Eddie'll let us play anyway:-)
Mind you, it does mean there'll be a lot of flashing (ooh err!) on the designated day!

Mr. Mayor says that he does not want to see us. If our reflections appear on the screen, does that also mean that we will be excluded? :-(
H.
Humph (12),
I expect so. Those of us who are vampires should be OK, but the rest of you will have to be careful not to light your shot from the wrong angle.
I was called out last Tuesday and missed PM so I didn't take the planned picture.
I assume some did take pictures, but where are they. I cannot bring up anything with the ´óÏó´«Ã½ search.
Prosecuted for letting your dog become too fat? Next they will be trying to prosecute parents with overweight children! We all know overweight lifestyles are a possible health timebomb but really! Who is going to take responsibilty for an overweight John Prescott? Perhaps Mr Blair should be held responsible!
Adoption
Yesterday you read a letter out concerning a Grandmothers worry and concern for her Granddaughter. The Grandmother felt that the child’s dysfunctional behaviour was a result of her daughter’s actions. The daughter had had the child using artificial insemination and was bringing the child up with her female partner.
I am a heterosexual woman with no children of my own and I am fortunate to have the pleasure of knowing a number of happy and loving gay couples that are successfully bringing up happy and well-adjusted children.
What a child needs is clearly love more than anything else.
Each generation passes that love, or lack of it, down.
Surely any woman that can write to a national organization such as the ´óÏó´«Ã½ and publicly damn the sensitive issue of her own daughter’s child care leaves many questions open as regards her own love for her daughter and the upbringing she herself gave to her daughter. The love, or lack of it, and perhaps accompanying dysfunction, can then move between generations, ultimately lying with the grandchild in question. Surely she is as responsible as the daughter she condemns.
Love and a well adjusted child has nothing to do with a parents sexuality.
Hurricane Dean was the first item on the Today programme news at 8am today. Why? because he affects the holiday plans of a few thousand British tourists. Otherwise why do all the other hurricanes from A-Z rarely get a mention?
This is nothing new but it was the final comment that shocked me. After explaining that Dean now threatens Mexico, specifically Cancun - more British tourists - the reporter said 'The only hope is that Dean moves further south'.
Then, of course, he would only wreck the lives and livelihoods of the citizens of poor unimportant countries where British people don't often go.
