The ´óÏó´«Ã½: Left wing political organisation, dedicated to hindering progress for Britain.
There's nothing better than someone not QUITE hearing something properly, then firing off an angry email.
After asking on the programme last night for listeners' thoughts on how PM could be summed up in ten words or fewer, for inclusion on the blog, Neil Campbell emailed with the sentiment above. Adding: "P.S. I know this won't be published, but it is undoubtedly true."
"Sticks and stones ....."
AND he was twice wrong.
Maybe he thought you meant how would the Prime Minister sum up the ´óÏó´«Ã½. I do so love it when I hear people rant and rave like this. At least I know I'm sane after hearing all that!
Are you sure about that Fearless? Can any of us froggers be said to be truely sane?
PM, in ten words or fewer:
If you listen carefully, you might even get the message.
I can just see the ´óÏó´«Ã½ think-tank sitting around with their Champagne and caviar going "You know what would be great? If we dedicate ourselves to leftie policies, we could hinder Britain's progress! Yeah!".
Personally, I think that came with the introduction of Mr. Blobby - certainly that was around the time that I forfeited my TV Licence in disgust.

Was it really a forfeit?
We are likely to abandon ours when the analogue signal is turned off, because of the ever-growing intrusiveness of "Music" during non-fiction programmes.
I write to Auntie along the line of "Nice programme about gardening last night, but as for the commentary I never herdia."
But Auntie is very deafensive.
I may be grumpy (see yesterdays 'We know the' blog thread), but this guy is barking!
When people from all points on the political spectrum are criticising you for bias you have to judge that you're probably doing your job pretty well. That has always seemed to me to be the ´óÏó´«Ã½'s lot in life.
I am in no way inclined to the political left, but I've never really detected any signs of political bias, either way, in the ´óÏó´«Ã½'s News & Current Affairs coverage.
If the guy has such a gut reaction to listening to the Beeb, then why does he do it? He should mellow out by changing channels to something that suits his personal tastes.
Si.
I'm puzzled you have such difficulty accepting a simple compliment. I wish people said such nice things about me.
At least Eddie & the Beeb aren't subject to censorship by the speaker of the house who is a member of a "Left wing political organisation........." enough said.
Stephen, I'd like to think I'm as sane as the next person. The only trouble is that the next person seems to be saying "wibble" a lot at the moment...
Isn't that 12 words?
As Flanders and Swann once said:

Well no, there was no suffering or sense of loss involved really, so it was less of a forfeit and more of a "I would be willing to stick hot pokers into my eye ball repeatedly rather than pay to watch anymore of this utter drivel." situation. However forfeit is easier to write.
I am now soothed by the dulcet tones of Sir Mair and his merry (wo)men so order has been restored to my world. And no Noel Edmonds in sight or hearing range.
OPEN LETTER TO ´óÏó´«Ã½ [INCLUDING ´óÏó´«Ã½ RADIO 4 AND PM]:
I am a US Latin [Spain/Cuba] who was born in Ohio in 1962. In 1970, I received a shortwave radio as a Christmas Present and the two stations that I first listened to was ´óÏó´«Ã½ and RCI [Canada].
The ´óÏó´«Ã½ has been a life long companion in my travels to Europe and the American Continent.
The ´óÏó´«Ã½ has been with me in good times and bad times [Coups, Hurricanes, even Hospitalization].
The ´óÏó´«Ã½ is the Voice of Reason, Truth, and Liberty in a world that is losing these three virtues.
The Staff in the ´óÏó´«Ã½ spend hours, days, weeks, years studying in order to please their audience and the ´óÏó´«Ã½ has received a 100% in my thoughts.
In closing, I authorize the ´óÏó´«Ã½ to use my letter as a testimony to how the ´óÏó´«Ã½ has been a Positive Aspect of my life.
Cheers

Are you sure? Left of Atilla, perhaps, but more like left behind than left wing.

I'm with Simon W (7):
Imagine you're hanging a picture, and you don't have a spirit level to check if it's straight. Here's what you do:
1. Tell yourself it's too much down to the right. Is it? Wait....
2. Now tell yourself it's too much down to the left. Is it?
3. Adjust and repeat. A few times.
4. When you could argue it either way, it's straight.
Hope that wasn't too metafizzical for the frog.
Aunteee, we luv ya, Aunteee, we dooooo...
Oh Roberto, you are lovely!
I do criticise the ´óÏó´«Ã½, but then I have family in Israel and sympathies with everyone in the so called 'Middle East" (not Middle East to them obviously, I suppose we are the Middle West to them) and I did find the ´óÏó´«Ã½ difficult recently. But generally I know they are trying hard.
On a different point raised, my mother is very deaf, unnecessary music can ruin her understanding.
Stephen, Leader, where have you been? We've missed you. I nearly bought another pair of red and white spotted shoes today!
Yay, Stephen leader of STROP, you have retunred. I would say, where on earth have you been all this time, but I suspect the answer is necessarily Pluto.
What amazes me is that it's always liberal conspiracy when people complain loudly about the mainstream media, whatever country you're in. When people who are more to the left of the political spectrum complain, it tends to be more low key, without the chest-thumping or the name-calling. Is it something to do with being a right wind complainant that makes people come across in the way that, say, Melanie Phillips/Ann Coulter/Bill O'Reilly/Richard Littlejohn do?
(20) Well you see, being called "right-wing" is a badge of honour among the cool kids, rather like having an ASBO or invading other countries for your own gain.
It induces a temporary sense of mass hysteria which leads to the fallacy that 'left-wing' or, heaven forbid, 'liberal' are dirty words, only suitable to describe those godless heathens who are the lowest of the low. This in turn means that the right-wingers in power become vocal, often derogatory, in describing something with which they do not agree with and is often associated with the delusion that their thoughts have been inspired by god.
And noone is going to argue with the big guy are they?
Fearless
Was that intentional? - right wind instead of right wing. It certainly describes them perfectly - especially Melanie (Oh God - not again) Phillips.
I must admit it wasn't intentional, but you're right, it does suit them, doesn't it!!
The Evil Liberal Conspiracy: I did read this rather funny statement from an article on the beeb:
Polls revealed religion as a striking predictor of voting behaviour - the more often a voter attended church, the more likely they were to vote for President Bush, by a wide margin.
That is not a good thing in a nation where more than 90% believe in God.
Y'all wait for the chest-thumping now.
Oh that is just classic! I tend to glance at the F*x "News" website most days, and I can just imagine what B O'R and J G will say once they see this! I imagine we'll hear their explosions over here in the "evil, secular-progressive, America-bashing, liberal, weak-willed, Old Europe"!
Sorry, been off with "Plutonian Flu"
Rather like Man-Flu, but resulting in much more time in front of the telly - whoops sorry, off work!
I'm on my way to the beach to recuperate
Stephenleader - you'll certainly get plenty to drink at the beach, and you need lots of liquids to get over manflu ;o)

See post 397 to see the answer :)
Be careful Stephen - there was man-flu at the beach a little while back, and your defences may still be low.
