The newsletter

Eddie Mair | 14:55 UK time, Tuesday, 14 November 2006

is late today. We sent it out on time, but it got stuck in a strange fault, which is now being fixed.

Sorry about the wait. I only wish I'd put something interesting in it.

We trust you Eddie! As Stephen says (1) come and join us on the beach for a relax before the programme begins :-)

What is this beach of which you speak? It sounds nice, the one down the road is pebbley and currently being rained on.

It hardly behoves me to explain Mark, but since I appear to be in a time warp - I'll try, and if this doesn't get posted along with the rest of my lost post, then someone else will have told you by then.
At some stage in October the current thread got a bit serious and some lighthearted froggers wanted an oasis of virtual wamth and relaxation - this being a sort of coffee bar for those working at home- and so a brilliant frfrogger (frequent frogger) suggested they all clear off to Day One - the day Erin Muir started the whole pointless blog. And they've been there ever since. Of course it got elitist, not only because there wasn't a bus service and you could only get there by 4x4 or elderly Saab, but because those of us without access to broadband couldn't, eventually, get anywhere near.
So there you are, strip off and join, or stick to whatever we get thrown as a thought provoker.
Golly, Val P is going to have a field day with my grammar and syntax.

Why isn't more being made of Tony's trans-Atlantic telethon with the Iraq Carpet Sweeping Team? Now that the Democrats have taken over the out house can we expect the full details of Tony and Dubya's love letters to be revealed? Can I end every sentence with a question mark?

We all tend to bring lovely things to eat and drink (amazing how generous you can be when it's virtual!) and sometimes Aperitif and I do a bit of tipsy singing.

There are camels, li-los, a pedallo, a dinghy .. and anything else you can dream up for our blogging pleasure.

Oh, and some of us call it the frog, not blog. Coz it's sometimes a forum-cum-blog. Lots of scope for froggy jokes there...

Serious comments on the issues of the day are best confined to the November threads. Down on the beach, we just chill out........

Look forward to seeing you there shortly!

Val P (12): has your newsletter arrived yet? If not, at the risk of incurring the 'too frequent' frogerator's wrath, here is the gist. Better late than never.....

    Hello,

There's something approaching excitement on the Blog, where today - sometime after 9am, we passed a total of 10,000 comments. Admittedly, more than 9,000 of them are complaints from listeners who want us to "stop going on about the bloody blog", but it's something, isn't it? If you haven't dipped your toe in yet, you can read it at the address on this page. If you'd like to say hello, just register (one-off and painless) and do just that. As you'll read - everyone is very friendly.

Our programme tonight will lead with an exclusive story. I can say no more at this stage. Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya will also feature in some form. We'll talk too about homelessness, and how we as a society become homelessnessless. That would be a complete state of homelessnesslessness. If that were to change it....oh never mind.

We may well be chatting to the lawyer who represented some of the prisoners who've got money out of the Home Office for going "cold turkey" in prison. In our meeting at 11.00 we marvelled at that phrase. Everyone knows what it means, but it's a bit silly. Is there a proper phrase for it, do you know?

Anyway - it's begun to rain out of my window.

    Eric Bond.

There you go, dear. Mine came in at twenty past four... ho hum. ;o)

... yup, got kicked back. Will try again in a few minutes. See you all at the beach?

I saw that and also thought it sounded odd. It is more likely that it would rain in your window - in which case shut it - than go from the inside to the outside. Where do you get your clouds from, Eric?

Fifi, lovely description of the beach. If I didn't go already, I'd be off down there toute suite (now, now, I never said I was a pedant in French did I?)

It's been a funny old day, new (part-time) job on top of existing freelancey stuff and etc etc. It's going to be good, but I definitely started it all too early on the New Beach. Going back off there now to see where y'all are....

Anne P, (14) I'm sure you only meant that the DOGS were barking - not us (froggers). No-one could possibly doubt our sanity, - could they? I've been wondering about bringing the cat to the beach. What's the concensus? He's large & slow-moving, though come to think of it, he does love catching frogs, so maybe it might be a bit dangerous. Did you know frogs can scream? I didn't, until we heard the one between his jaws a couple of years ago. But he usually releases them, just likes a bit of sport first. One morning we found one in the cellar that he'd thoughtfully placed in his waterbowl. None the worse for the experience. The trick is getting the frog onto a shovel, then up the cellar steps & into the garden before he hops off & the whole saga starts again...

Where would I go about placing a bet online about Tony Blair's leaving office? I have a tenner on him still being in the big chair come August. I think he'd probably like to leave earlier than that - probably March - but something in my water tells me he'll still be P.M. 'til late summer.

As for Gordon Brown taking over, I have another tenner that he'll never be returned as Prime Minister in a General Election. If I asked them nicely, do you think Ladbrokes would do me an accumulator?
