Meet the commissioners, view the terms of reference and hear the Commission Chair Sir Michael Lyons explain his approach.
I can't get galleries 20 or 25 to open.
* sob! *

Are your IT people getting jittery about the amount of gigabytes you're using to store this lot? Shame I couldn't take part... forgot my camera... Perhaps you could do a 'description on your world' 50 words or less 'describing' your world at 5 o clock. Bet you wish you thought of that... have it as an early Christmas present! Would take up less of Auntie's hard disc space too.
Erm, Eddie? I don't want to worry you, but a couple of the links don't seem to work (nos 20 & 25 to be exact...)
I really really hate to say this but galleries 21 and 22,at least, are entire duplicates.
Well, thanks Eddie - though when I'm going to have time to look at them all I have no idea! But I will look forward to it.
Your newsletter's arrived - sorry you don't want to read my round robin, it's very good and awfully interesting.
Seriously, I quite like getting them from other people. We don't put our cards up to make new dust traps (got enough of them already) but instead have a nice big basket by the fireplace where we put all the cards and letters and then whenever we get so drunk we need to sit down, we can take a bit of time to look through them all at leisure. It's good to have news of old friends you don't see often and it also helps you remember their names for next year.
My r-r has a picture of my 92 yr old mother in her new covered mobility scooter which is bright red and looks like a mini Smart car! Let me know if you change your mind and I'll send it to you. You won't be sorry.
They were offered up as blue pink magenta and capuut mortem ( other colours were) available on 18th December.
I think I'm going to send mine again. I got the automated message to say the Beeb got my mail but so far.....
I am presuming that my picture must be the very bestest one they had and will have its own individual link.
I can't get 20 or 25 to open either, Fifi. Is mine in there? Will I ever know? Does Eddie care? Yes, of course he does - I'm confused, not stupid. Have a good Christmas everybody. And wish me luck if my colleagues and 1250 teenagers haven't found their school on the photo boards by the time we go back .....
I can't either Fifi boo hoo!
Yeeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyy! Thank you. I've enjoyed all the pics, though they've made me very envious of (1) the fascinating jobs people do, and (2) the great meals people have!
Thinking about our Fearless Fred. Must be fun in his office!
Colleagues: "Morning Fearless -- Camera in today again"
Fearless: Yep boss it's for Eddies advent calendar today ;-)
My photo sent in at 5.10pm on the day never got as far as the galleries, perhaps it fell down the back of the email bit on the computer - I always have been technophobic/technoincompetent. However I am glad to see that at least my cat is better looking than the 100s of others chosen to appear...I've really enjoyed looking at all the pics, even though I can't find mine!
20 and 25 have links for people editing the photos, rather than those of us outside the ´óÏó´«Ã½ viewing them. It is possible to see them by changing the URL to that of the galleries that do work, but then changing the gallery number to the appropriate one, but it's probably just easier for Eddie to post ones that work ;)
Still no sign of my pics though. I'm sure you'll get there in the end!
O ye of little faith! They'll all show up in the long run, but as Keynes so laconically observed, "In the long run, we're all dead."
Still, enjoy the solsticial celebrations!

quick look. gallery 23 no 5 - a truly GORGEOUS cat. Sadly only from the back - but I am in love with it regardless.
How good to hear a serious academic contest Blair's claim about the danger of the times we live in and, in particular, give the facts about the bombing of Plymouth and other provincial towns in the forties. My mother and I were bombed out of Plymouth in the spring of 1941. Conditions were so dire that thousands trekked out into the countryside at night and slept under hegerows rather than face the nightly bombing. I personally watched members of the broken French and British forces landing at Millbay docks following the Dunkirk fiasco. Meanwhle, my father was in a sloop that came back from the abortive Norwegian campaign only to have its stern blown off by a heinkel in the Firth of Forth. We were in a desperate state as Lord Alanbrooke's unexpurgated diaries testify. The historical illiteracy shown by Blair is scandalous, very dangerous, and an insult to my father and mother's generation. Ex-Plymouthian.
Hi
Apologies (as ever)...I've given Eddie the wrong links for 20 and 25. I'll change it now.
And 21 and 22 aren't duplicates - I've just renamed the coloured links Eddie posted a efw days ago to try and avoid confusion.
I'll try and look through them all over the weekend.
Happy Christmas
L
Thanks Hippie (12) - I did it!
My picture of Daisy still hasn't appeared but there are some beautiful animals in there. Especially Cloudy the cat asleep in a plant pot!
Hippie ... come down to the Beach and let me treat you to some of my home made salsa, which I'm making ahead of Christmas dinner so it's got time to mature.
Yummmmm!

AA, whilst looking for your cat in Gallery 23 ( I couldn't find it), I came across 27 and 28 , and can't make up my mind which I prefer - what do you think?
Well said, Arthur Dark!
ed
sorry Aunt D - that should have said Gallery 18 but it's still no 5.
Arthur Dark, I'm just "listening again" as I was out partying last night. What a breath of fresh air that academic was.
Mary
Best email ever on yesterday's programme, the listener who has the same cooker as everyone else.
Mary
Clair and Stewart aren't alone - mine isn't on there yet, either. don't know whether to sulk or stop caring.
I think the windowworlds are a great idea. I just wish my world was interesting enough to be there with all the others!!
I love going through the pics - it's good to see that some people's worlds are as untidy as mine. I've also enjoyed seeing all those gorgeous cats and dogs. The lizard in the lounge was fun too.
Happy Christmas all
Sandy
What have I done?
More windows on the War on Sanity:
Chris Floyd | War Profits Trump the Rule of Law
Chris Floyd writes: "Slush funds, oil sheiks, prostitutes, Swiss banks, kickbacks, blackmail, bagmen, arms deals, war plans, climbdowns, big lies and Dick Cheney - it's a scandal that has it all, corruption and cowardice at the highest levels, a festering canker at the very heart of world politics, where the War on Terror meets the slaughter in Iraq. Yet chances are you've never heard about it - even though it happened just a few days ago."
Scott Ritter and Seymour Hersh | Target Iran
Democracy Now! presents an in-depth discussion between two figures who have been critical of the Bush administration's policy on Iran. Scott Ritter, a former United Nations weapons inspector in Iraq, and Seymour Hersh, a Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist for The New Yorker magazine.
Sherwood Ross | Carter: US "Prime Culprit" in Nuclear Proliferation
Sherwood Ross writes, "Former President Jimmy Carter says by 'rejecting or evading almost all nuclear arms control agreements negotiated during the past 50 years, the United States has now become the prime culprit in global nuclear proliferation.'"
J. Sri Raman | India and Three "Emerging Democracies"
J. Sri Raman writes: "In an unbeatable illustration of double irony, President George W. Bush is pushing through the much-discussed US-India nuclear deal not only as a non-proliferation measure but also as a blow for democracy. Enough has been said about the Indian establishment's pious anti-proliferation protestations. It is time to talk of its pro-democracy tasks immediately ahead."
Bush Issues 16 Pardons
President Bush gave a pre-Christmas gift to 17 minor criminals. Six of the federal offenses were drug crimes, while others included bank fraud, mail fraud, the acceptance of a kickback, a false statement on a loan application and conspiracy to defraud the government over taxes.

madmary (22) my thoughts exactly; a classy use of interactive communication!
Sandy H, I don't think it is personal, after all many of our photos are not interesting in themselves, I have faith they will all appear.
Of course it will, Auntie, and may God(s) (generic) Bless us every one!
Back to the outdoor fire to set up for an evening with mulled wine (for others - Liffey for me), goodies and chat in the gallery and around the very civilised campfire on the front 'lawn'. Grey but mild and dry.
Our own smaller version of The Beach, and a little less virtual....At least the turkey is local, I followed the feathers to collect it from a neighbour..
Everything else seems to carry quite a load of diesel miles. Ach well. The whisky's not from too far off, but the Liffey's well travelled, nae doot.

Aunt Dahlia, is that a blanket reassurance to be applied at all times to all things? It is just I might be able to use it later!
Home-made salsa sounds fabulous, Fifi! Thankyou!
Glad i helped you get the links to work. I didn't know if I had made any sense...!
Yes Sparkly - sometimes it's the only thing that helps. That and ' It is better to light a candle than curse the darkness'
Where would I be without cosmic pokerwork?
Aunt D (26),
Thank you, but every post I tried to put on this and the previous thread on separate occasions has failed to show, including one saying something like this, which I typed just before the, apparently exceptional, "What have I done?"
I wasn't rude, offensive or even slightly huffed, so I ask again -- why? What have I done?
