NEW Windows on Your World

Eddie Mair | 10:06 UK time, Monday, 18 December 2006

People in the know tell me that 10,000 photos have now been posted. It seems a lot, doesn't it?

Here are some more. I hesitate to number them as it will probably be wrong...so I am going to give them the names of colours, for absolutely no reason.

Orange, blue red and pink.

More to follow!

Still no sign of mine. And LOTS of duplicates!

Shouldn't they be taxed, or something? (And, conversely, those of us still waiting - patiently? - for ours to appear should have our Licence Fee refunded? Now, there's a thought!)

Did see AndyCr's up there, though! But we'd already seen his .......

BTW, has further thought been given to categorising the photos? I ask this because I've seen lots of pooches up there (though NOT MINE!!!!!!) and would be very happy to trawl through and try to collate them for you (if you'd like me to).

Will my photo come up before the New Year or will I have to make a New Year's Resolution around moaning to Eddie?

The original list goes 1-17; the latest are numbered 21, 22, 25, 26.

One cannot help wondering if 18-20 and 23-24 exist but links are not published. Or is this another investigation that should be halted?

Sorry if I offended you, Eddie, with my comment about the Newsletter vs the 1630 trailer. I hope that by subscribing to the Newsletter I will evetually have done enough penance.

    Yes seen Andy,

I make it around 1,500 as published to date but that was just a quick tally of the seventeen galleries and four colours.

Appy: Before I forget it's Bournemouth not Brighton -- not that it matters

Alas, the secret of my name is out as well, for those that can find the photo. Can I remain as FFred here?

Eddie, perchance you have synaesthesia, how exotic!

Big Sister (1) I think you need to get into the PM office forthwith to get labelling photographs & categorising; I don't really know how they've managed without you this far. Well, they haven't really have they! Better take madmary with you though... .

Oops, sorry Jonnie - I knew that really. In fact, I'm sure I said Bournemouth at the party, but got it wrong when I posted here. (Incidentally, I was nowhere near Bournemouth either - haven't been there since about 1986... but I remember it was very nice then...)

Mmmm -- he was out for a while three days ago !

How long does a cold virus take to incubate I wonder ?

Bournemouth is still very nice now, except for that I*ax thing they put up to spoil the view when you come down the hill to the sea.

In the summer, occasionally, you might meet a poor artist trying to sell his wares in the aptly named "Lower Gardens" near the sea. Say hello, if you're visiting next year, and maybe buy a reasonably priced artwork at the same time :)

Hooray!! At last my photo is up!

I was getting worried about all the repeats as well, but it seems they get there in the end! It is interesting as to how many dogs get fed at 5pm - mine has to wait until 6.30pm!

I wonder if there's a way of being able to set up a screen saver with them on. I use my own 'my pictures' file as my screen saver for my laptop, but I think it would be a lovely way of seeing all 10,000 pictures without having to pretend to be working!!

I suppose as a screensave it might just be a bit heavy to download - does someone else know about these things?

Note to Eddie: That was a genuine offer, though!

Anyone who reads in an alphabetic/phonetic language is experiencing synaesthesia. Your eyes see little black squiggles and your brain hears sounds, which together suggest thoughts.

It's one step less abstract if you're reading Chinese, because the characters suggest the words directly. The actual sound for a character may differ from one dialect to another, but the meaning is the same, so two Chinese folk who can't understand each other in spoken language can write back and forth quite easily.

for a wee bit from The Spell of the Sensuous, by David Abram. An excellent Christmas read for anyone interested in storytelling and oral traditions. for The Ecology of Magic.

John Wilson, where are you finding all these orphans? I found my horse Kilroy under Pink (altho he's definitely very male) the day the colours were posted but the link seems to have moved from its original place to this page; is someone going to move all sets to run after 1-17? Never mind sorting them into categories, let's just get them all so we can find them easily!

Also, Patsy, I am still wondering why it's the wrong cat (in one of the early ones) but I can't find this one again now either!
